August 2, 1966
A regular meeting of the Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday,
August 2, 1966 in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Present
were Chairman Nickerson, regular members Hoyt, Sheldon and Wadsworth,
and associate member Blaisdell. Also present was the secretary, Mrs.
Macomber. Hearings were opened at 7:30 p.m. as follows:
George S. Grey - a variance in order to maintain a house at 1
Sutherland Rd. with an 11' rear yard; and to build a screened porch on
the west side 10'x12' which would have the required rear yard but would
be 12'6" from the side line.
George T. Sullivan - a variance to build a 2 -car garage at 60
Burlington St. which would be 9-1/2' from the rear lot line instead of
the required 15'.
Katherine J. Marotto - to erect a swimming pool at 5 Parker St.
which would have a 10' rear yard instead of the required 15'.
Morris N. and Astrid M. Kazanjian - a variance in order to
erect a garage on the east end of house at 6 Fiske Rd. which would have
a 24.9 ft. setback from the street and which would be 15.1 ft. from the
' property line but with an overhang only 13.9' from the property line.
Pasquale P. Barbieri - a variance in order to make a one -bedroom
apartment over garage and breezeway at 161 North St. to be used for
family use only and not to be rented.
Anthony P. Modoono and Rose M. Manna - for permission to build at
192 Woburn St. a greenhouse with connecting area, approx. 40' x 1001,
connecting area to run from existing building to greenhouse and to be
approximately 30' x 45'. Greenhouse will be used mainly for growing and
storage of plants. Also permission to add a fibreglass roof over apron
on front and side of building to give plants, etc. protection from
direct sun.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during
which the following decisions were made:
George S. Grey - granted
George T. Sullivan - denied
Katherine J. Marotto - granted
Morris N. and Astrid M. Kazanjian - granted
Pasquale P. Barbieri - denied
Anthony P. Modoono and Rose M. Manna - granted
All pertinent material with regard to above petitions is on file
in each individual folder.

recent petition of William F. Cowles for permission to stockpile loam
