A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was
held on Tuesday, November 9, 1965. Due to a massive power failure
in the entire northeast section of the country, the meeting was held
in the Building Inspector's office, Town Office Building, which is
equipped with auxiliary lights. Present were Chairman Nickerson,
regular members Ripley and Hoyt, and associate members Duffy and Dawes.
The following petitions were scheduled to be heard:
William H. Sullivan - to vary the Lexington Zoning By-law
in order to decrease lot size at 7 Juniper Place by transferring
approximately 300 sq.ft. to lot 11 Juniper Place, which would leave lot
at 7 Juniper Place with approximately 15,200 sq.ft. instead of the re-
quired 15,500 sq.ft.
William Setterlund - to vary the Lexington Zoning By-law
in order to subdivide lot at 12 Utica St. into two lots; one would have
a frontage of 95 ft. and one a right-of-way frontage of 10 ft. instead
of the required 150 ft., with areas of 19,570 sq.ft. and 23,690 sq.ft.
respectively instead of the required 30,000 sq.ft.
Frederic K. Johnson - for permission to use a proposed new
building to be erected at 39 Bedford St. as a garage for the storage,
repair, and sales of motor vehicles.
Kennecott Copper Corp. - for a finding and determination that
the proposed wing addition to the laboratory building at Ledgemont
Laboratory of the Kennecott Copper Corporation and associated parking and
roads and proposed topographical changes are such that the proposed addi-
tions and modifications will constitute a suitable development and will
not result in substantial detriment to the neighborhood.
Wilson Farm - for permission to remove approximately 10,000
yds. excess stone and gravel from land at Pleasant St. in conjunction with
improving farm land.
Due to the black -out only two of the petitioners appeared.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during which
the following decisions were reached.
Frederic K. Johnson - granted
Kennecott Copper Corp. - granted
The petitions of William H. Sullivan and William Setterlund were re-
scheduled for December 7 hearings. The petition of Wilson Farm was post-
poned pending a decision of the Selectmen as to action to be taken re:
