HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-05-18BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS I May 18, 1965 A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, May 18, 1965, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, Lexington. Present were Chairman Nickerson, members Hoyt, Abbott, Ripley and Wadsworth, and the clerk, Mrs. Macomber. At 7:30 p.m. the following hearings were heard: 7111iam Silvio - request to vary the zoning by-law in order to erect a house on Lot 855 17 Hibbert St., which would have a 20 ft. setback instead of the required 30 ft. and 7 ft. side yard instead of the required 7-1/2 ft. James Casella - request to vary the zoning by-law in order to erect a one -car garage at 291 Concord Ave. which would have an 8 ft. side yard instead of the required 15 ft. Harold Michelson - request for permission to erect a sign on the easterly side of e building owned by 11 & L Realty, 1780 Mass. Ave. leased by P:ichelson's Shoes, abutting the pedestrian walk to the munici- pal parking area. Arts & Crafts Society - for permission to build an addition to the existing structure at 0 Waltham St. for permissible use under the zoning ordinance for a clubhouse. Stop & Shop, Inc. - request for permission to conduct a general dry cleaning and laundry service on the premises, with the right to in- stall and use coin-operated laundry and dry cleaning machines, pressing machines, gas-fired tumblers, compressors, high- and low-pressure boil- ers, and other laundry and dry cleaning equipment and machinery at 32 Bedford St. Ruth H. Ready - request to vary the zoning by-law in order to allow two lots on Jean Rd. of insufficient frontage and area to be built upon, lot 18A having a frontage of 105 ft. and area of 9,130 sq.ft., and. lot 19A having a frontage of 105 ft. and an area of 9,080 sq.ft. At the close of the hearings an Executive Session was held during which the following decisions were reached: Vyilliam Silvio - granted James Casella - denied Harold Michelson - granted with the condition that the sign shall not be lighted later than 11:00 p.m. Stop & Shop, Inc. - granted with the following conditions: 1. there shall be no fumes and no odor in connection with the operation and only non-flammable materials shall be used; 2) the hours of operation shall be six days a week 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sundays excluded; 3} non -flashing lights shall be used; 4) the premises shall not be unduly lighted after cessation of operations.
