September 1,1964.
A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on
Tuesday, September 1, 1964, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Build-
ing, Lexington. In the absence of Mr Nickerson, Mr. Charles Abbott
served as Chairman Pro Tem. Also present were regular members Hoyt,
Ripley and Wadsworth and alternate Morey
The following petitions were heard.
Nancy C. Schock for permission to continue to operate a kinder-
garten in her home at 8 Marrett Road, three mornings a week, October 15
through May 15
Mrs. Ralph Schontaa for permission to continue operation of a kin-
dergarten five days a week at her home 296 Woburn St.
Montessori SchoolzInc for permission to continue operation of a
kindergarten and nursery school for 24 children in Temple Isaiah,
Lincoln St. five mornings a week
Peter H and Elizabeth Ten Eyck for permission to maintain a front
yard of 28.3 ft. instead of the required 30 ft. at 8 Field Rd., Lexing-
ton, which has side yards of 8.3 ft. and 9.4 ft instead of the required
10 ft., and a setback of 18.5 ft. instead of the required 30 ft.
Hayden Recreation Centre,Inc requested permission (1) erect, under
Sec 5(a)7.d. of the Zoning By-law, a private recreation building of a
non-commercial and non-profit nature on the grounds of the Josiah Willard
Hayden Recreation Centre, Inc., 26 Lincoln St. according to plans sub-
mitted; (2) vary Art X, Sec. 1 of the Lexington Building By-law to per-
mit construction of a building of second class construction having an
area between fire walls of over 10,000 sq ft. on the grounds of the Josiah
Willard Hayden Recreation Centre, Inc., 24 Lincoln St., in accordance with
plans submitted
Richard L. and Margaret_B___Reeves requested permission to maintain
existing dwelling at 12 Carley Rd., Lexington, which has side yards of
8.3 ft. and 9.4 ft. instead of the required 10 ft ,. and a setback of 18 5
ft instead of the required 30 ft.
Charles Crothers requested permission to erect a garage and storage
area connected to the existing house at 15 Woodcliffe Rd. which would
have a 17 ft. setback instead of the required 30 ft.
Charles C. and Anne E. Johnson requested permission to build a swim-
ming pool within 5 to 8 feet of the rear property line at 15 Young St. instead
of the required 15 ft.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during
which the following decisions were reached.
