December 11, 1956
A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, December ll
1956 in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. At 8:00 p.m. hear-
ings were declared open upon the following petitions:
Whitman Stephens - to erect a single family dwelling at 11 Bart-
lett Ave. k corner or Bartlett Ave. and Arcola St.) which will not have
the 20 ft. set back from Arcola St. as required by the Zoning By-law,
Leonard J. Colwell - to add to lot 56 located at 36 Independence
Ave. a small tr ngn r piece of land from adjoining lot 55 on Smith
Ave.
Thomas H. Robinson - to subdivide a lot of land numbered 24 Cedar
St. into two s mare "A" and "B" on plan submitted which will not
oftply as to area and frontage with the Lexington Zoning By-law, and to
erect a single family dwelling on said lot "B" with a frontage of 80 ft.
on Lake St.
Mass. Institutiv.of Technolo - to continue to maintain a trans-
mitterpo e YO ft. high at the south corner of the Field Station 238
Wood St. for a period of five years from date.
' Mary J. O'Brien - to add 25 more extension lines to the switch-
board now containing 20 lines at #34 Homestead St. for a doctors' and
business men's answering service, with the understanding that if more
services are required she will present a new petition to the Board of
Appeals, and with the understanding that Mrs. O'Brien and her husband
will be the only persons to operate the services.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during
which the following decisions were made:
Whitman Stephens - granted
Leonard J. Colwell - granted
Thomas H. Robinson - granted
Mess. Institute of Technolody - granted
Mary J. O'Brien - granted, with the following condition: this
permission will continue only so long as Mrs. O'Brien and her husband
own the home and operate the service.
