A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, September
18, 1956 at 8:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building.
At 8:00 p.m. hearings were declared open upon the following petitions:
Harold L. Brehm, D.D.S. - Maintain an office for the practice of
Orthodontics in his home at 14 Parker St.
Dorothy Steadman - to maintain a boarding home for aged persons
at 20 Parker St.
Howard H. Besanson - to erect an addition to present dwelling at
19 Hill St.
Virginia E. Welch - to divide her land at 29 Hayes Lane into two
separate lots marked "A" and "B"; lot "A" to have a frontage of 131'
and an area of 50,242 aq.ft. and Lot "B" to have a frontage of 130'
and an area of 10,667 sq.ft.
Murray . Potter and the Gulf Oil Corp. - to use lot 7 on Waltham
St. formerly part of the Rix land, for the keeping, storage and sale
of petroleum products and inflammable fluids; libricating, washing and
tuning motor vehicles; selling and servicing motor vehicles tires,
batteries and accessories.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during
which the following decisions were reached:
Harold L. Brehm, D.D.S. - granted
Dorothy Steadman - granted, subject to the following conditions:
that she and her husband will care for the boarders, with additional
help as needed, and that a person qualified to care for elderly people
shall be present on the premises at all time; that not more than five
boarders would be accommodated at any one time and that they should
each have a private room; that any recommendations made by the State
Inspector (Building) would be complied with; and that this permit shall
continue only so long as Mrs. Dorothy Steadman owns and operates this
boarding house for aged persons at 20 Parker St.; that there will be
no structural changes made.
