Maddison, Baldrey, Glynn, Custance and Slocum were present. The Secretary was also present. The Board discussed the applicationofPichette & Ahern for permission to erect and maintain'a garage and repair shop for 20 automobiles, and to keep, store and sell petroleum products and volatile inflammable liquids in connection therewith at #847-855 Mass. Ave., and to use the premises as a public filling station for the Pichette & storage, keeping and sale of gasoline in the capacity Ahern of 5000 gallons in underground tanks. hearing. Mr. Roland W. Baldrey had several objections which he offered. He felt that the exterior of the building could be a better form of architecture, rather than the ordinary frame building having a flat roof which is usually constructed as a garage. He felt also that the repair shop should be removed and he did not know whether it was the intention of the owners to remove it or to leave it there, and he wondered if this restriction could be put in any -permit that might be granted; he felt that the present building would be removed at some time, but that if a garage permit were granted, it would be something that was permanent. He also stated that he -visited -some of the people who had signed the petition for the permit, and that they stated that they knew Ir. Field and liked him and did not want to do anything that would hurt him, but at the same time, they were not keen on having a garage in this location. Mr. Bladrey also felt that this Town was visited by a great number of persons each year and the Board should do everything in its power to keep the place looking as fine as possible. Mr. C. Edward Glynn stated that he would look favorably upon the permit for the garage but he did not believe in granting a permit for a filling station in this location as there were already too many on Mass. Ave. The Board voted on the matter, three voting in favor and two against. The Board therefore were not unanimous and directed a communication to Pichette & Ahern to this effect. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. A true record, Attest: Clerk.
