Singles (including touch-and-goes)decreased10.2%compared to May 2024. Turbo activitydecreased14.6% while Jet activityincreased 1.9%. Helicopter activity had a 6.3% decrease inactivity. Night activitydecreased 16.6% from259 operations inMay 2024, to 216 operations inMay 2025. Page2: Civiliandeparture EXP, using the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) Version 2d, was107.5 decibels inMay 2025. EXP is the logarithmic sum, in decibels (dB), of thetotal aircraft noise on an average day for the aircraft thatoperated atHanscomField. The estimate is made forapointon the ground 15,000 feet 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. For more information about EXP calculations, please visit the Massport website to view Appendix A of the Annual Noise Report at: https://www.massport.com/hanscom- field/about-hanscom/publications-reporting/ Pages 3a-c:EXP using AEDT 2d calculations forMay 2025 are onPages3 a-c. Page4: The top graph provides a visual picture of the changes in departure EXPover the past 24 months, showing the ups and downs since May 2023 for civilian, military and total EXP. It demonstrates the widevariability in military departure EXP, which ranged from a low of 79.0 dB (January 2025) to a highof 119.9 dB (December 2023).Civilian departure EXP ranged betweena peak of 108.5 dB (November 2023)to a low of 106.1 dB (March 2025). Beginning in January 2020, AEDT 2d is being used to calculate noise values. Thebottom graph indicates trends since May 2020, with each point on the graph representing the interval average for the previous 12 months. The military interval average remained steady, then decreased through 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic. A steadyincrease continued throughout 2021 and through mid-2022, dropping sharply at the end of 2022.Itremained steadythrough 2023, climbingin2024. 2024 had a slight decrease withlows toward the end of the yearand start of 2025. 2025 has spiked with increasedmilitary aircraft through mid-summer. The civilian interval average does not demonstrate the pronounced ups and downs seen in the military interval average, but it demonstrates a steep downward trend throughout 2020 with the pandemic. A gradual upward trend can be seenfrom 2021 to 2022 as operations return from pandemic lows, leveling out through the beginning of 2023. 2023 remained level throughmid-2024 and decreasedthroughmid2025. Page 5: There wasa decrease in noise disturbance reports from325 in May 2024 to229 inMay 2025, made by27 separate households. Page6: When compared to May 2024, there wasan increase of 1.3 dB atSite 31 on the airport, a decrease of-0.4 dB at Site 32 on the airport,an increase of 3.6 dB at Site 33 in Lincoln, an increase of 0.8 dBat site 34 in Bedford, a decreaseof 0.4 dB at site 35 in Lexington and a decreaseof-0.1 dBat site 36 in Concord. There was one monitoring day over 70 dB DNL,at Site 31 on May All noisemonitors were 100%operational throughout the month. 2025 - to - DATE PRELIMINARY REPORT PAGE 1 (All data is reviewed for the Annual Noise Report--data for 2024-2025 may be adjusted.)
