The Planning Board will approve a new member this month. Both members should be present for the next committee meeting on May 30th. The reorganization of the Select Board will occur this month. VFL Website and report on emails We have received general notifications from the Town. There are no other updates on the website or email. Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity The Town was waiting until after Town Meeting and the 250th to begin recruitment. The role will likely be posted soon. The committee discussed the direct and indirect impacts of funding shifts related to DEI. The Town is not backing down from DEI. Update from Subcommittee on Participation in Local Elections Each member is reading through the report. Marian is reconciling all the citations. This month's meeting was postponed. It is likely that nothing new will come until after the next Vision for Lexington meeting. The subcommittee is still writing up, finalizing, and making sure that final suggestions to the Select Board are practical. There was a 27% turnout for the 2025 election. That is one of the highest turnouts in local elections outside of those held at that same time as the presidential primaries. The Clerk stated that only one person reported going to the incorrect voting place, which is a good sign after moving new precincts to Cary Hall. There is a need to improve parking and find more effective ways to communicate info regarding mail -in ballots. Town Wide Survey Tentative Schedule 2 Funding Request for FY27 Budget Dates The committee has started putting the survey funding request together with initial requests due in August. Fiscal Year 2027 begins on July 1, 2026, and runs through June 30, 2027. Marian provides a background on the survey. There is a significant amount of thought on the questions used in the survey. Additional aspects of the process are focus groups, a beta test that runs through the Vision for Lexington committee, translation of the survey, and a marketing campaign.
