MINUTES OF LEXINGTON COMMISSION 2000
MEETING OF FEBRUARY 16, 1999
ROOM 111, TOWN HALL, LEXINGTON, MA
Present Skip Hayward, Jim Roberts, Pat Flynn, George Comtois,
Suzie Barry, Jamie Kemler
Excused Dan Busa, Lou Sideris
Guests Rick Hiytte, All-Pro Productions
Skip called the meeting to order at 7 05 p m
Minutes of the January 19, 1999 meeting were accepted as received by
e-mail
CHAIRMAN
-Skip reported that Rob Neufeld has submitted his resignation from the
Commission Jamie will assume the PR responsibilities
Peter Lee of the State Office of Travel and Tourism may join the
Commission in the future
WEB PAGE
-Starwood has agreed to contribute $5K toward the web page as the
primary sponsor Skip reported the web page contract has been signed
PUBLICITY
-Skip is looking for a graphic artist that will help put together a
4-fold brochure to be distributed through the CVB's
-Jamie is hard at work on PR connections including Tour Books We may
want to market this as tied to the Marathon i e makes it a unique
weekend
BANNERS
-Skip goes before the HDC on Thursday, March 4, 1999 at 8 10 p m for a
hearing on the Banners
CANDLE PROJECT
-Jim will follow up with Paul Rouillard of the Lions Club
-Pat will follow up with the youth groups that didn't come to the last
meeting of youth groups to try and get everyone on board
ALL PRO/FUNDRAISING
-Rick had a new agreement for Skip to sign - revised re telemarketing
Sue Rockwell will go over it and then it will be signed if o k
-Telemarketing is scheduled to begin in the next week or so There will
be a Benefit Flag Football Game on July 18th at the LHS field Those
that make donations via telemarketing will get tickets to the game It
will be Patriots All -Stars vs The British Regulars There was also
discussion of selling Lex 2000 novelties at the game (Paul Keane) and
food concessions
-The telemarketing script was gone over It will include the voice mail
# if people have any questions Suzie will check the voice mail box for
messages and she or Skip will call people back
-The effort will initially go out to 10 towns

TREASURER
-Some type of spreadsheet needs to be developed to keep track of the
donations George said he will speak to Linda Liu
GUN BILL
-Skip reported the hearing on the Gun Bill at the State House will take
place on Monday, February 22, 1999 at 10 00 a m Room A-1
-Skip reported that the BBC will be coming over to film the events of
Patriots Day weekend(Battle Road, Patriots Day, Historic Houses) 1999 as
a result of the publicity surrounding the Gun Bill
