Skip went over the background info for the candle idea that was
suggested by George Neuman
Paul Rouillard and John Lucente of the Lions Club reported on the Lions
involvement in the program (see handout) Paul and John have tested
several light samples It was decided that a plug in candle would be
best with possibly some sort of commemorative decal on the candle
There was significant discussion over whether the youth groups can
fundraise for others The Boy Scouts would need the approval of their
Council
There was significant discussion over whether the project would be a
better "fit" for the groups if it were more of a community service type
project where there would be no door to door contact but rather 1 or 2
possible trips to drop off a packet of information with an order blank
for the candle inside It was also suggested that the packet contain
information on other events being planned for late 1999-2000 such as
last night etc Discussion continued on how far in advance would be
appropriate to order candles and how they would be delivered A
deadline of mid September was suggested for the first "drop package"
that would include the calendar of events and info on the candles
There was discussion over whether a corporate donor (Wal-Mart was
suggested) might donate the candles Pat will check with the post
office to see if info packages can be left on the mailbox or not
Guests left at 8 15-8 30 p m
