McSweeney, Chairman SUBJECT' Bicentennial Bike Tours Traffic Safety Committee At its meeting of August 6, 1974, the Traffic Safety Committee discussed Mr. Tarlin's letter requesting advice relative to Historic . Bicycle Tours. The Committee looked favorably toward the proposal and felt the following points would be useful in the further planning of , the tours. •' Firstly, as the Board is aware, certain rules and regulations governing the operation of bicycles on Town ways have of late become v: law. This being the case, and since bicycle riders tend to violate these rules, due to ignorance of them, the Committee felt that the ria law should be outlined to the participants of the tours by the tour guides or leaders prior to the start of each tour. Secondly, the Committee has been assured by the Police Department that should any members of these tours be observed violating the rules and regulations of safe bicycle operation, they will be cited without hesitation. Those in attendance at this meeting were Peter M. Chalpin, Chief Corr, and Ken Briggs. PMC/jmh I cc: Traffic Committee '' e Robert Tar) in COPY TO BOARD MEMBERS 9-4-74 4,1 L-TM f 1
