Minutes
Date/Time. September 29, 1999, 3.00 p.m. -4 00 p.m.
Location. Selectmen's Meeting Room
Present: Joe Marino, Ray Carberry, Donna Hooper, Linda Vine, Rosa Tsai
Absent: Steve Con, Diane Snell
➢ Minutes of previous meeting were reviewed and accepted.
➢ A review and edit was made of the proposed draft flyer on general Y2K which will be mailed to all
households within the next few weeks. Joe will compile final version and send for printing and
mailing.
➢ Discussion on upcoming Oct. 19, 1999 presentation at the Senior Center centered around names of
presenters, agenda, publicity flyers and general issues. Clarke Cowen, COA Chairman, will serve
as Moderator Presenters from Public Works, Police, Fire, and Y2K team will each have a 5-10
minute presentation, with questions then welcome from the audience Joe will prepare agenda.
Linda will prepare flyers for display at Senior Center, etc
➢ Public presentation scheduled for Nov 17, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. at Clarke Middle School was
discussed. Representatives have been invited from Town/School departments and utility
companies. Again, presenters will offer a 5-10 minute presentation then questions will be received
from the audience Joe will prepare the agenda and a press release. Linda will invite Selectman
Jeanne Krieger to serve as Moderator Cable TV has agreed to videotape each of the two events.
➢ Y2K Information Tables - Joe reported the response to the information tables Linda set up at Cary
Library, Senior Center, and Town Office Building has been very favorable Each facility will
replenish handouts as supplies diminish.
➢ Citizen's Y2K Group - Joe reported on ongoing communication with and from the citizen's group
➢ Other Issues The group discussed it's intent to provide Y2K information to school-aged-children.
Plans for providing a flyer to the school department for distribution will be addressed at the
October meeting.
Next meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20, 1999 @ 3.00 p.m. in Room 111
