The Town's overall goal is to avoid service disruptions and insure that there are no surprises triggered by the arrival of the year 2000 In support of this goal, an interdepartmental team was formed more than one and a half years ago to study the potential impact on Town governmental functions due to the transition to the New Year and work to mitigate any impacts. The team's mission is to achieve seamless processing for all Town systems and applications, resulting in uninterrupted operations and service to the community. Leading up to and after January 1, 2000, the Town will be communicating critical information to the Division of Local Services (DLS) and to Massachusetts Emergency Management Association(MEMA). Division of Local Services: The Town of Lexington will be testing all critical and essential systems on January 1, 2000 A checklist form provided by DLS will be completed for each building listed below and submitted to Karen Simmons, Y2K Team Chair, on January 1st by 11:30am at the Lexington Police Station Karen will tabulate the information and fax (617-626-2330) the checklist to the Division of Local Services by 1 OOpm (Building specific information is attached) Town Hall Cary Hall Cary Memorial Library Police Station East Lexington Library Lexington Visitors Center COA Adult Day Care Building School Administration Building Fire Headquarters DPW Operations East Lexington Fire Station Cemetery Building Animal Shelter Lexington High School Clarke Middle School Diamond Middle School Estabrook Elementary School Hastings Elementary School Fiske Elementary School Harrington Elementary School Bowman Elementary School Bridge Elementary School Sewer Pumping Stations MEMA: The Town will be working closely with MEMA and will begin to submit status reports using the Information Collection Reporting System (ICRS). Reports will be submitted through the computer by 10.00am each day beginning on December 27, 1999 and through January 4, 2000. The Town of Lexington Emergency Operation Center(EOC) located in the Police Station will be activated at 6.00pm on December 31, 1999 Officials from various town departments, including, but not limited to, Police, Fire, Public Works and members of the Y2K Team will be in attendance at the EOC Lexington's Emergency Management Director will phase out response operations as needed and de-activate the EOC when it is determined that it is no longer necessary If you have any questions regarding this plan, please contact Karen Simmons, Y2K Team Chair at 781-862-0500 x263 or email at Ksimmons a,ci.lexinnton.ma.us.
