EVALUATION OF UNITED TINS DAT
It vas the general consensus that our activities on UN Day have branched out
enough now, and that these new areas should be s'orengthenod in several ways:
1- have better liason with the service clubs, possibly sanding members of the
TCC to meotinEs of these orcanizations to explain our function;
2 strengthen the relationship uith merchants, woe respome this year wa:i
good for a start, by starting on the dir3play functions earlier
3. reach an early decision on whether or not an evening oceting will he planned;
4- possibly work with the Alorican yield Service oachange students either on an
evzning meeting or an asserbly;
5- be sure Mies McIntyre receives the money sho nsecls.
Those who did attend the evening meeting mrs pleased and enthusiastic) about
Mr. Morse, but there was a differenco of opinion an to whether or not this pliaaa
of the celebration should be tried opin. At least we agreed to -doe Est brook
Hall rather than the High school Auditorirm, fo.- the obvious reason of attendance
problems. The continuance of this evening Al-fon will depend upon the availabil-
ity of a prominent speelor.
A report summarizing UN Day events will be 1.Tepar,,A. Thank you letters will he
written to Mr. Stone, the Marine Corps Leov:.e, Ltons Club, League of Women Voters,
Rotary, Kisianis, Junior Chamber of Comercel Chavber of Co-imerce, Ead Moree
Alan Adams (re: editorial), Principals of Estabrook and Munn Schools, Dr. Potter,
and the High School thvough the stndont council.
It should be stated here, for the record, that Miss Joy Pullen and Mr. James
Goldberg were reclIpiens of the essay contest awards.
Also, the Morse meeting was covered on Channel 14noms„ both imadistely after the
meeting and early the next morning.
Al/ school functions' were snoznirliy ulln and well done, and with the exception of our
UN Flags on the common showing signs of distress (upside down) the day was indeed
a van-observed one this year.

Council of Charches, felt that distribution of progrom at tie churches was a good
idea and could be effectively executed. He suggobed distribution the 6uneay pre-
ceeding the service and that 6,000 would be the proper number to order. He volttn-
towed his SOTViCOS in helping to distr7Jaute them, It vas also suggested that the

APRIL 19
Arthur Douglass reported - hat both the flotary and Lions clubs ars interested in
a Drum and Bugle corps (=petition. The problca arises with aril 19 falling on
a weekday this year that senior groups., composed of working men; would be unable
to compete. Junior groups would come, though y for trophies. For this group the
Easter Mass, Association would provide judgesy and if net sponsored by them we
would have to get our own. This compstition would be held after the parade on
the football field from 4 to 6 p.m.:, with the competing groups doing their own
publicity.
In the discussion which folloued hr. Deuglasso reporty various problems were
raisody including the fact that anything happening on April 19 will be directly
charged to this comittee by the boron. Thereforey the following points were
brorght up for clarification at the ne.At meeting:
1- That we can evaluate and Lndify any plans that Eastmnass. may make;
2- That that associatiorcoill omecute the comcetition for us on the 19th;
3 That the groups be balanced (not all CYO or )ooley)
4- That there isnot ariy antagonism fron the cls,rgyy this being Maandy Thursday.
Ih Douglass will pursua the pvoblem further,
