This is a prime concern right now.

Mrs. Olsen, the mother of Miss Teenage Massachusetts, contacted Bill Brenchick
to inquire if her daughter could participate in the parade. A motion was made to
accept this proposal and Bill Brenchick will contact her. She will be put in the 1st
or 2nd Division and will be asked to supply her own convertible and driver. The
Committee will help her if needed.
There is approximately $5400 in the budget to spend on marching units. The
number of sponsors is six--Arlex Oil, Lexington Press, Rowe Chevrolet and Lexington
Toyota, Lexington Chamber of Commerce, Michelsons Shoes and Mals. The Depositors
Trust and the Sheraton are possibilities.
There is a total of $8000 worth of units to choose from--next week the Committee
will begin to decide which units to invite. By 1 April 1979 this must be fairly well
put together. By next week Ray Flynn will have a list of units to vote on.
Handicapped Parking for Patriot's Day was discussed. The parking will be in
front of the Post Office on both sides of the street and also at Emory Park. An
article will be submitted for the 5 April 1979 paper. The Police will begin handing
out passes on the 9 April 1979 at the station. The suggestion was made for another
"All Bands Play Here" sign to be placed right before the center.
Paul Jenkins indicated the need of ordering 25 signs for the parade. 5 new
banners is a possibility.
The question of displaying the theme on a banner at the beginning of the parade
was vetoed.
MEMORIAL DAY: The issue of a Memorial Day Speaker was discussed. The Committee was
asked to start thinking of a candidate. The invitation should be out by the 1st of
April in order to get an answer back. Sam Rotundi was suggested as a possibility.
Bill Brenchick will be contacting the Police Chief for Chief Marshal and Aides
for the Memorial Day Parade. This must be done early.
ON 22 MARCH 1979: The Lexington High School Class of 1979 Class Officers will be at
the meeting for discussion of Chief Marshal, Division Marshals and Aides for the
morning parade. Their role in the Memorial Day Ceremonies will also be discussed.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn E. Brenchick
