HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-12-19-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting, December 19, 19714 Present: Vice-Chairman Gaughan Presiding, Eleanor Litchfield, William Brenchick William Fitzgerald, Raymond Flynn, Hildagarde McGonagle Also Present: Kevin Doyle, representing the Lexington Minute Men James Cooper, Lexington Boy Scouts Patricia Mass, Girl Scouts Mr. Doyle presented a plan for arrangements concerning Paul Revere's ride which is recommended to begin at Woburn St. and Massachusetts Ave. Publicity coverage is to be approved by TCC and LBC, Lighting for historic houses and the green and a public address system for the green was discussed as covered in proposed program. A stand for news media representatives will be provided. Plans are being made for a meeting with the Town Manager, Police and Fire Chiefs and the Superintendent of Public Works regarding the ride and the reenactment, pending a letter from Chairman Barnes to Walter O'Connell -- tentative date of meeting, January 30, 1975. , Mr. Doyle asked if the 1st Div. could form for the afternoon parade at the Jonas Clark Junior High School. It was decided to hold this decision until Chief Marshal Broderick is present. Mrs. Ross of the Lexington Girl Scouts appeared to ask for approval for a presentation by thu Scouts folloL in6 the rededication on Sunday, April 20. She was advised that this decision comes under the jurisdiction of the LBC. Mr. Cooper asked for and received a float application for the Boy Scouts and was urged to submit form for parade participation to Jim Broderick. A discussion of the People's Bicentennial Committee followed during which it was suggested that if prescribed rules applicable to all participants were followed, there are no grounds for barring them. Members of TCC were asked to consider and submit names in addition to those already given to the Board of Selectmen to replace James Fenske.
