December 21, 1972
PRESENT: Churn. Barnes, Mrs. Reed, Mr. Brenchick, Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Lord, Mr. Fenske,
and Mr. Gaughan.
Mr. Barnes called this meeting to ratify an agreement between the Bi-centennial
Committee and the Town Celebrations Committee under the heading "Proposed
Memorandum of Understanding". This proposed memorandum was among the missing,
however, so action was taken.
Mr. Barnes read a letter from Vincent J-R Kehoe, Chaitman, Promotions Committee of
the Society for the Preservation of Colonial Culture requesting a copy of the
proposed plans for 1975's Patriots Day celebration. The letter will be forwarded
to the Bi-centennial Committee.
This was a brief meeting. The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, January 4th, 1973.
TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 4, 1973
PRESENT: Vice Churn. Gaughan, Mrs. Litchfield, Mr. Lord and Mrs. Hall.
Mrs. Hall is to call Mr. Barnes and remind him to submit his Town Celebrations
Committee section of the Town Report.
Beginning next Thursday, January 11th, the Town Celebrations Committee will be
meeting every Thursday evening at 7:30pm in the new Town Office Building,
Conference Room G-5, through the month of May.
PATRIOTS DAY: April 16, 1973
Mrs. Litchfield will invite the following groups to march in our afternoon parade:
All Armed Forces Marching Units and Bands in our area
Norwich University
National Guard
Lexington High School Band
Fitchburg High School Band
Gloucester High School Band
All Committee members should be thinking about a parade theme for this year.
Preliminary planning for Patriots Day 1973 was begun, gearing our plans toward 1975's
celebration. Members present seriously discussed having the TCC undertake the
complete control of all invitations for parade participation. This will be voted
upon on January 11th.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn L. Hall
Recording Secretary
