HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-03-04-TCC-min.pdf Town Celebrations Committee March 4, 1982 Present Chrm Fitzgerald, Vice Chrm Flynn, Bob Jackson, Marion Snow, Karen Gaughan, Dawn Brenchick, Paul Jenkins, Jean Coates, Fran Mallett Guests Tom Roboin - Youth Awards Committee Paul Mazarell - Lexington Public Works Dept John Waters - 2nd Lt - Adjacent Lexington Minute Man John Van - Mass Minute Men Council 2 - 3 young people will receive Youth Awards-will be decided by April 1st Awards will be in A M. They will ride in P M parade Will supply convertible Necessary for committee to know who will be driving so we can give them proper instructions Paul Mazarell to rope around Hastings Park - Hastings Road - Lincoln Street - Worthen Road and Mass Ave and Tower Park as decided - for Sunday re-enactment John Waters requested a bus at 7 A M to transport Minute Men from Green to Muzzey for A M parade Buses for P M parade 12 noon to Adams School - 1 P M from Monument to Adams School Minute Men rehersal April 4th John Van - Minute Men Council - Re-enactment April 19th British and Militia will leave Fiske Hill at 12 30 arriving at Hastings Park at 1 15 After a skirmish of about 30 minutes they will leave Hastings Park at 1 35 and proceed down Mass Ave. to Common - A short Memorial Service and will leave Common and arrive at Munroe Tavern at 2 15 P M At 2 30 British Column will march to Tower Park where it will arrive at 2 35 These activities in Tower Park will take 30 minutes The British should leave park at 3 15 P M. and proceed to Arlington The Minute Men will provide pickets at Hastings Park, Munroe Tavern and Tower Park to aid in crowd control The committee requested a picket be placed on band stand and at stairs to band stand to keep people off the stand There will be television coverage - small newspaper release end of March Boston papers and local papers early in April T C C reserves the right to contact Minute-Man Council if crowds are getting out of hand Town Celebrations Committee - March 4, 1982 Parade Ray Flynn report on Bands and Marching Units in P M Parade Ancient & Honorables Billerica Police Department - 12 people Hayden Whaling City Jr Band Queensmen - Winchester Norwich Academy Baton Group Fitchburg High School Bell Band Bob Jackson Devens - National Guard should have answer within a week. Dawn Brenchick Color guard from Watertown Marine Corps League Committee decided to hold decision on "Blue Knights" until Lexington Police Department plans are finalized Town Celebrations Committee decided to set up 2 Command Posts - each with its own leader and aides - 1 for Division 1 and 2 and 1 for division 3 and 4 Banner Bearers - Cub Scouts - Girl Scouts - Campfire Girls & Pioneers As many as possible Should have an answer by April 1st We request paper covers rehearsal of Youth Groups. Letters have gone out to last year' s sponsors - Price as last year Town Celebrations Committee motion made and seconded that plans of Minute-Man Council be accepted and be presented to Town Manager So voted Meeting was adjourned at 10 30 P M Respectfully submitted, Frances P Mallett Recording Secretary
