Chairman Fitzgerald convened the meeting at 8.30 p.m Present
were members Flynn, Dziokonski, Snow, Gaughan, Coates, Jackson and
Jenkins.
The Committee approved the theme selected for the 1983 Patriots A
Day Parade TIME HONORED TRADITIONS
The Chairman reported that Charles Cullen had accepted the invitation
to be Chief Marshal of the Parade. Mr. Cullen will attend the
meeting on January 27, 1983, and subsequent meetings.
Chairman Fitzgerald further reported that Gresh Lattimore had declined
the Committee's nomination to Chief of Staff because of pressing
personal and business responsibilities He did offer to serve in
another, less responsible capacity on Patriots Day 1983.
Nominations for Chief of Staff were reopened. After reviewing by the TCC of
nominees, and discussion of their qualifications, motion was made
and seconded that Leo Gaughan be nominated for Chief of Staff, and so voted
Chairman Bill will contact Mr Gaughan for his acceptance
Next on the agenda was a discussion as to the merits of appointing
aides for the Chief Marshal and Chief of Staff. The TCC concurred
in the decision to appoint two aides each for the Chief Marshal and
Chief of Staff. One aide each will be appointed by the Chief Marshal
and Chief of Staff, completing their staffs. At the same time, it
was agreed by the Committee to also appoint the Division Marshals and
two aides for each division. Again, as above, the Division Marshals
would appoint/select one aide each. Scouts will be assigned to
each Division by the Committee
The agenda for the next two meetings will include nominations for
Division Marshals and aides. Chairman Fitzgerald requested the
Committee to prepare to suggest nominees for these slots.
Chairman Bill made the following preliminary assignments for
Patriots Day
Dawn Dziokonski - Invitations to guests from Hanscom AFB
Dawn/Bob Jackson - Military invitations (other than HAFB)
Jean Coates/Fran Mallett - U.S. Government (Senators Kennedy, Tsongas,
Rep. Markey + )
Karen Gaughan/Marion Snow - State (except Governor [done])
Ray Flynn - Bands
Karen Gaughan/Paul Jenkins - Floats
Karen Gaughan/Marion Snow - Banner Bearers
Dawn Dziokonski/Ray Flynn/Bob Jackson - Roster

Review and the updating of the 1983 float application was the last
order of business.
The meeting was adjourned at 10 10 p.m
