HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-01-06-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 6, 1983 The meeting was convened by Vice Chairman Flynn at 8 15 P M with members Djiokonski, Jackson, Coates, Jenkins and Snow present It was agreed that the selection of the Chief Marshal and Chief of Staff be deferred to the next meeting whe a full committee will be present. Bob Jackson suggested that the wording of the suggested theme "Peace with Communicated Strength" be changed to "Peace with Shared Strength" The members present agreed to this change Ray Flynn reported that the Masonic Grand Lodge of Massachusetts will ob- serve its 200th anniversary in 1983 He suggested some recognition with respect to the theme of the Patriots Day Parade Paul Jenkins noted that the First Baptist Church is celebrating a 150th anniversary this year It was agreed to give thought to a theme which, while not being restrictive to other organizations in preparation of floats, would provide an appropriate "anniversary" motif Discussion followed on the progression from Chief of Staff to Chief Marshal from year to year It was agreed that this procedure should not be auto- matic, but should be a strong consideration in our deliberations on a choice of Chief Marshall Dawn reported on a positive reply from the U S Naval Air Station in Weymouth regarding their participation on April 18th as well a a firm commitment from the Waltham Recruiting Station Color Guard The meeting adjourned at 8 57 P M - Respectfully submitted, Marion H Snow
