HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-05-10-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING - MAY 10, 1984 PRESENT: William Fitzgerald, Chairman, Ray Flynn, Vice Chairman, Pat Flynn; Marion Snow; Karen Gaughan; Paul Jenkins; Jean Coates. GUESTS: Representatives of the USS LEXINGTON (CV16) - 40th BIRTHDAY REUNION Committee - (Roily King and Charles Ryberg) Mr. Ryberg, assisted by Mr. King, presented information for approval of the Town Celebrations Committee to request permission to hold a wreath- laying ceremony on the Lexington Battlegreen on Friday, October 12th, 1984, at 10 a m. The Committee concurred that the request was in order. It was recommended by the Committee that Mr. Ryberg send a letter to the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Mrs. Margery Battin, describing their proposed program, and requesting official permission from the Town of Lexington. MEMORIAL DAY* Clergy responsibilities were reviewed, correcting Minutes of 5/3/84 as follows: TCC Assignments* Bill F. - Westview Cemetery (Rev. Papademetriou) Marion - Munroe Cemetery, Cary Hall, Battlegreen Karen - Colonial Cemetery (Fr Colletti or Prusaitis) Bill announced that Neil Cronin had accepted the Committee's invitation to be Chief Marshal, Neil will attend the meeting on May 24, 1984. UPDATING OF CHECKLIST FOR MEMORIAL DAY: LHS Band and Paul Mazerall - contacted by Ray Flynn Dr. Coppe - Lexington Minute Men - contacted LPD and LFD Color Guards - no response yet Address of the Day - Capt Williams, HAFB, will call back with the name of the person assigned to give the Address Program - Munroe Cemetery - arranged Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts/Campfire (also Bluebirds/Brownies/Cub Scouts)- all set Jr. High Schools Combined Band - Ray to call The PROGRAM OF THE DAY was next discussed and reviewed A bus will leave the School Administration Building grounds at 8 45 a m. for a 9 a.m. ceremony at Westview Cemetery. Karen will ask Jerry Garrity, Lexington VFW Post 3007, to lay the wreaths with the children Last year's program/schedule will be followed. Again, in case of inclement weather (God Help Us! !) , a memorial service will be held at Cary Hall at 10 a m. If both the LPD and LFD Color Guards choose to march, they will march together. It is not sure if the ROTC Unit from Minute Man will be available to march. -2- Marion offered to type the roster for Memorial Day. Bill will arrange to have it photocopied. PATRIOT'S DAY 1984• The Committee approved a bill in the amount of $11.69 from Lexington Lumber for payment. A bill from Lexington Catering Inc. has been tabled until an adjustment in the total amount is made. wow- •111111W. 41.1111110101...- There .....1..aThere will be no meeting on May 17, 1984. The USAF Academy Band Concert will be held at Cary Hall. The TCC is asked to report at 7 p.m. The ROTC Unit from Minute Man will arrive at 7 15 p.m. for assignments.
