HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-10-22-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE MINUTES -- October 22, 1987 PRESENT William Fitzgerald, Chairman, Raymond Flynn, Vice Chairman Pat Flynn, Jerry Hagerty, Charlie Hyde, Bob Jackson, Jean Coates ABSENT Karen Gaughan, Paul Jenkins, Nancy Cannalonga Chairman Bill called the meeting of the Town Celebrations Committee to order at 8:10 p.m Minutes of the meetings of October 8th and 15th, were reviewed and accepted as presented VETERANS DAY-11/11/87 (Wednesday) Chairman Bill reported that no word regarding selection of a Chief Marshal has been received from the VFW Post He hopes to have a response from Angus MacIver tomorrow, 10/23/87 - The Schutt Detachment plans to come. Women members are also attending. - Marion Snow has made arrangements for an indoor (if necessary) ceremony at Cary Memorial Hall (Note there will be no janitor TCC will do necessary "adjustments ") - Marion also reports that Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, John Eddison, will read the Proclamation Jerry Hagerty expects to have a response from the LFD Sunday regarding the Color Guard Marching Detail If they are unable to attend, Pat Flynn will request a Color Guard from HAFB Ray Flynn will pick up wreaths at Carlson's. Charlie Hyde has contacted all Boy Scout troop leaders, he will get a count next week He also plans to contact Kenny Cox re DeMolay Bob Jackson -Clergy is all set Jean Coates - no response yet from School Committee. After a short discussion, the Committee VOTED To give Lexington VFW Post #3007 the sum of $175 for a collation following the parade PATRIOTS' DAY 1988 Chairman Bill requested the Committee to be ready to propose a theme for the Patriots' Day Parade in the next couple of weeks He noted that April 1988 marks the 275th anniversary of the Founding of Lexington. There was a general discussion concerning expenses for the hiring of bands and the availability of units Pat Flynn suggested discussing the length of the parade at the next meeting, remarking on specific problems with the 3rd and 4th Divisions ADJOURNMENT 9 10 p m.
