MEETING MINUTES - - 2/25/88
PRESENT Bill Fitzgerald, Chairman, Ray Flynn, Vice Chairman;
Pat Flynn, Jean Coates, Marilyn McWeeney, Dawn McKenna,
Mary Ann McKenna, Marion Snow
ABSENT Jerry Hagerty, Bob Jackson, Nancy Cannalonga, Paul
Jenkins, Karen Gaughan
Chairman Bill called the meeting to order at 7 40 p m
Motion was made, seconded, and
VOTED to accept Minutes of 2/1c1 /88, as presented
PATRIOTS' DAY - UPDATE
Bill (for Nancy) - Wilson Farm will have 3 floats in the p m parade
(1) tractor (with rubberized wheels) , (2) trailer with barnyard
animals, and (3) horse-drawn farm wagon filled with vegetables
They will provide own "pooper scooper!"
Bill - The Elks will enter a float, again this year They have
also approved our use of a room for the 4-6 p m reception
as well as a "coffee" welcoming area for assembling invited
guests before the parade
-As of 2/10/88, no response has been received from the LFD Honor
Guard.
-He has contacted the Radio Club They will send a representative
to the meeting (? on 3/10/88) .
-Captain Commanding Jim Hart (or a representative) , LMM, will be
at meeting of 3/3
-John Watson, Lt Col Leonard Stone, John Hayden (Davis Road)
will participate in the p.m parade
-Ben Golini's approved aides have accepted
-Cecil Jones has not yet checked with his approved aides, but is
sure they will accept.
Cecil announced that a VFW Color Guard from Waltham, plus
a contingent of marchers from the Waltham VFW will participate in
the p m parade
-The Committee will not select Division Marshals until next week,
when the Chief Marshal and Chief of Staff are present
Ray - Gresh Lattimore and Earl Blount are interested in participating
-Ray distributed to the Committee a list of the Bands and
marching units, and reviewed the status of each
-He will arrange for the LHS and Jr HS bands with Jeff Leonard.
Marion - Georgia Smith, Bea Lewis and John Hayden are willing to participate.
-She said that the Lexington Minute-Man will publish a "Supplement"
giving much information about the Patriots' Day weekend activities
Anyone with information they want published should contact the
Minute-Man asap.

Pat - The 18th Army Band will not participate in Lexington They are
going to Arlington
-Pease AFB Band - 50% chance we will get, however, Inspector
General is due to arrive at Pease on Sunday, 4/18 They will
keep us advised
-Marching units from Ft Devens will be in the parade
-Steve Politi acknowledged that he will participate (4th Division)
The Boston University Band contacted Pat re playing on Patriots'
Day A suggestion was made to allow them to play from 1-2 15 p m
on the Battlegreen - behind the Reviewing Stand. Bill needs to
work out setting up and breaking down of chairs for the band with
Paul Mazerall, and then get back to Pat Meanwhile, Boston
University Band will send a formal written request to Pat/Committee.
INVITATIONS
Pat - is to invite the Commanding Officer of Ft Devens and the
Garrison Commander He will also invite Lt Col. Brennan,
the MDC contingent
- As soon as list has been received from HAFB Public Relations Office,
Pat has been asked to extend those invitations, as well
Jean- is to invite V P Bush, Senators Kennedy and Kerry, Congressman
Markey, and the British Consul-General (and ? Tip O'Neill, former
Speaker)
Dawn - to send out invitations to State officials
Marion - invitations to Local officials, plus ex-Senator Tsongas
Reports (continued)
Marilyn - delivered press releases re Chief Marshal and Chief of Staff
to the Lexington Minute-Man on Monday They were unable to
publish them this week. A notice requesting banner bearers (from
Jerry) was also submitted for publication
RE-ENACTMENT OF BATTLEROAD RETREAT will be held again this year Time
schedule is approximately the same as other years - 11 45-12 30 p m -
Fiske Hill area, Hastings Park 1 15-1 35 p m , Tower Park 2 30-2 45 p.m
ADJOURNMENT 8 50 p.m.

Business : rr. Fitzgerald reports that the Navy Band is
confirmed to march in the afternoon parade.
Pat Flynn reports iease may be available still no
commitment. Boston University band is confirmed to do concert
on battle green. They have apprx. 75members and will perform
from 1-?pm.
Marilyn ; icAleeney reports schools are closed on the 18th of
April.
Charles Hvle reports 307 Scouts and Cub Scouts are contacted,
also t ristii 3r aie of! Grace chapel.
Da 4n ificen-a reports she should have access to a 192 ca- for
the '.Y. parade.
Istrt,ncv Connalr,um.. reports yden is availace, with drummers
twirlers ror the iarade. Atilson Farms also is interestea
in having three float entries. waitigg to on other applications.
Ray Flynn reports that most band applications are still out
and he is worming on prices. The Waicefield High Dana was votea
in by the Committee.
Paul jen4ins reports he is wor4ing on gathering prices on sign
costs for this year.
. ill Fitzgerald also reported that there will be a National
Guard tan 4 in the iarade . It will Ce transportea on a
low coy trailer.
The Committee vegan maicing preliminary assignments for the
afternoon iarade staff. atill needs more time.
