Paul Jenkins GUESTS. Mrs. Dale Domings, Ashland, Mass. Neil Cronin, Chairman-Float Award Committee, C of C Chief Marshal Ben Golini, Chief of Staff Cecil Jones-(p m. Parade) Chief Marshal Jeff Hagopian, Chief of Staff Tara Ippolito-LHS Senior Class Officers (a.m. Parade) ********** The Meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chairman Bill, who introduced Dale Domings. Mrs. Domings is a member of the Ashland Celebrations Committee, who is attending tonight's meeting to see a truly professional group in action! (n.b -She is a former Lexington resident, daughter of Otis Brown.) MOTION was made and seconded to approve the Minutes of 3/24/88, as submitted. A.M. PARADE-Update/Review of Roster SPIRIT OF '76 - Marilyn and Marion will practice wih them next week They will march in both parades. AIDES TO CHIEF MARSHAL JEFF HAGOPIAN will be John Niland and Carol Saunders. LIONS CLUB DELEGATION will join the Parade at the School Administration Building, with the White Tricorn Hat Recipients. Two cars will be available for the recipients. FIRST DIVISION MARSHAL is Dan Strollo, LSH Senior Class He and Jeff will recruit Aides for 1st Division. (? female) Ceremonies on Battlegreen. Reverend Brian Dixon will give Invocation and Benediction. Lexington Minutemen Honor Guard will raise the flag. It is hoped that the flag raised will be the one flown over the USS LEXINGTON on its birthday in February. Paul Mazerall will meet with Bill to check size, etc. , for hoisting Nancy is arranging for Oaths/Promises. She will act as "prompter." She will give Jeff the names of the participants on index cards, for his introductions. CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, Jack Eddison, will give Greetings from the Board. He will also read the Governor's Proclamation. Pat Flynn will have the A M Roster typed P.M. PARADE - Update/Review of Roster Bill - The Captain and 6 men from the USS LEXINGTON are scheduled to land at HAFB either late Sunday, 4/17, or early Monday a.m. , 4/18. Pat - Gen. and Mrs. Joseph Skaff, and an Aide, Capt. Otjen, will attend from Ft Devens. - 36th Medical Battalion is being fed at Ft. Devens - No response yet from MDC He will call Monday to check. TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE MINUTES - 3/31/88 Page 2 P.M. PARADE UPDATE (continued) (- Jerry - has a list of 140 banner bearers! He will check to see who actually will come. Bill has ordered 2 buses reporting to the High School. Charlie-has the name of participants from Grace Chapel (for oaths) Bob - There will not be a first aid station on the Green. It was ruled out by the Town Manager, because there is no indemnity insurance. - HAFB has promised the guest list Friday, 4/1. Ray - Junior High Band will not march in afternoon. (They want to watch!) -He reviewed with the Committee the list of bands (18) already notified, and reviewed status of others, pending donations NEIL CRONIN, Chairman of Float Judging Committee,announced that prizes to be awarded for the floats best depicting this year's theme are: $75-1st Prize; $25-2nd Price; No Cash-Honorable Mention, for each category: Civic/Youth/Commercial. - Neil then, as representative of Stanley Hill Post American Legion, stated that the Post was sponsoring a "U S. Constitution Coloring Book"contest for 2nd graders in Lexington. Mrs Gillespie is administering this contest. Winners from each of the schools will be awarded a bronze Constitution Medal. Arrangements will be made to place the winners in the p.m. Parade. Nancy will give Neil a list of the float entrants. Paul, Pat, Charlie will measure and mark the float areas in East Lexington. So far,requests for entries have been received from Community Playground, Committee for Nuclear Weapons Freeze, Lexpress, Battlegreen Chapter of Demolay, Youth Commission, Wilson's Farm. REVIEW OF DIVISION 1: Waltham Post #2152 Color Guard will march. Also, self-propelled AF plane will be in the Parade, followed by a van/trailer. MOTION was made, seconded and VOTED to table further action on 1st Division placements until 4/7/88. Chief of Staff AIDES are: Angus McIver, Robert Rushton, Walter Giffin BU Band will play from 1-2:15 p.m. As stated, Bob will handle details. Bill looked at Waltham reviewing stand available to us. The stand was ruled out because of repairs needed. He met with Paul Mazerall, and decision was made to rope off an area from the Reviewing Stand to the statue that would accommodate 100 people, in double rows. Bill presented for action of the TCC, a letter from the Town Manager referring a request for space on Mass. Ave. to collect signatures on a petition, from Amnesty International USA Group 24 (Lynn Cannici) . After discussion, MOTION was made, seconded and VOTED. To refer this permission for space back to the office of the Town Manager, who normally issue all permits. Notice of this action will be sent to the Town Manager. TWO APPLICATIONS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS to the TCC have been filed with the Board of Selectmen. Applicants are: John Hayden, 4 Davis Road; Mrs. Joan Bentley, 6 Minute Man Lane.
