MINUTES -- 5/12/88
PRESENT Bill Fitzgerald, Chairman, Ray Flynn, Vice Chairman,
Charlie Hyde, Jerry Hagerty, Pat Flynn, Jean Coates,
Dawn McKenna, Marilyn McWeeney, Marion Snow
ABSENT Paul Jenkins, Bob Jackson, Nancy Cannalonga, Mary Ann McKenna,
Dawn Dziokonski, John Holt
Chairman Bill called the meeting to order at 7 40 p m
Planning for Memorial Day was reviewed and discussed, as follows
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE/EXERCISES - Monday, May 30, 1988
A bus will be at the School Administration Building to leave for Westview
Cemetery at 9 a m TCC members to go to Westview are Jean, Bob, Ray,
Bill and Jerry
Charlie, Dawn McK , Marilyn, Pat and Marion will meet at the School Administra-
tion Building parking area to assemble the parade.
Fr George Papademetriou will offer prayers at Westview, Munroe and
Cary Hall; Fr Stephen Healy (St Brigid's) at the Colonial Cemetery.
Bill plans to ask Rev Polly Laughlin Guild (Follen Church) to offer
Invocation and Benediction at ceremonies on the Battlegreen
The Superintendent of Cemeteries has requested a copy of the Parade
Roster at least 1 week prior to Memorial Day
Flowers (wreaths and a bouquet) have been ordered from Carlson's
Pick up of same will be arranged
Written approval to assemble at the School Administration Building parking
area has not yet been received from the School Department
Chief Marshal for the Memorial Day parade is Earl Blount, Capt USMC(Ret)
The 10 a m Parade will be formed and ready to proceed to the first stop,
Munroe Cemetery, when the busload of parade participants returns from
Westview
At Munroe Cemetery, Jeff Hagopian and Tara Ippolito, LHS Class Officers-1988,
will read General Logan's Orders of the Day and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
Cary Hall - Parade will march up driveway, and stop at Town Hall, for
exercises Reminder make sure "echo" is not stationed in parking lot
behind Cary (Ray will do )
Buckman Tavern-Soldiers Monument - MOTION was made, seconded and
VOTED to place a wreath/flag at the Soldiers Monument
In order to do this, the Parade will march to the right of the statue of
Captain Parker, Ray will hold the head of the parade at Hancock Street

After the wreath and flag are placed, the parade will turn left on Harrington
Road (Jerry, Charlie and Pat - prior to wreath-laying at Buckman- will
proceed left at statue, and go directly to the old entrance of Colonial
Cemetery, for crowd control )
The Minutemen will pass through the old entrance, the rest of the parade
will enter the Colonial Cemetery via St Brigid's Parking Lot When ceremonies
at Colonial Cemetery are concluded, the parade will regroup in the parking
lot, march out to Harrington Rd , left on Harrington to the center of
the Green (Ray will remove flag) and then march up to the flagpole area-
speakers stand
Minutemen will stand at right of stand, Selectmen in front of stand
Speaker of the Day - no one yet confirmed
Invocation/Benediction - ? Rev Guild
If LHS Chorus does not choose to sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic during
the ceremonies this year, question asking Lexington Pop Chorus to perform
Ray will check Chorus availability with Jeff Leonard
After ceremonies on the Green, the Parade will be re-formed - with Selectmen
and Guest Speaker leading the parade (plus a few TCC members) The Selectmen,
Speaker, TCC will take review of Parade in front of Cary Hall
After review, the Parade is to move down Police Department driveway -
not School Administration Building driveway

MOTION was next made, seconded and VOTED to accept Minutes of 4/28/88,
as presented
The TCC - and spouses - plan to lunch together after the Parade Location TBA
