Bill Fitzgerald, Chairman, Pat Flynn, 1st Vice Chairman, Ray Flynn, 2nd Vice Chairman, John Hayden, Adrienne Della Penna, Dawn McKenna, Jean Coates, Marilyn McWeeney Guest. Jim Roberts, Lexington Minute Men Chairman Bill called the meeting to order at 8 00 p m The minutes of 1/19/89 were accepted as presented. PATRIOTS DAY The first portion of the meeting was spent with the committee discussing with Jim Roberts details of Patriots Day Bill asked who will be in the Flag detail There is generally 4 men. Will there be a Harris Award this year "Yes." At the morning exercises two books will be presented to the town. Admiral Mourrow will present his book on the history of the U S S Lexington. General Galvin, USA, will present his book on the myths and realities of the American Revolution. The am parade will follow pretty much the same marching order Jim Roberts had questions on 1 ) can the Minute men have a car for the disabled men in the P.M. parade 2) the minute men would like to have a man in dress uniform, for visability and control, at the Lexington activites on the day of Battleroad. The Lexington Minute men have requested from the Town Manager permission to use the Green for the Re-enactment on Patriots day morning. Bill has requested the LMM colors for the memorial service at 11 30 at the U S S Lexington Monument. YOUTH PARADE. The Roster for the Youth Parade was reviewed. The youth groups will be rotated, in order, for both the parade and the ceremonies. Adrienne and Marilyn will handle the youth oaths and promises on the grandstand. The troop leaders will escort the youths up onto the platform and stand with them. Invocation and Benediction: A representative of the Korean Methodist Church will be invited to give the Invocation and benediction at the A.M. ceremonies on the Battle Green. If the invitation is declined then the Fol len Church and Temple Isaiah, in this order, will be asked. PATRIOTS DAY P.M. PARADE. Ray handed out his listing of marching units contacted for the parade He received a letter from the Company A 3rd Volunteers who are interested in marching. Marilyn is to speak to Charlie about Banner bearers this coming week Dawn talked about some form of entertainment for the Banner Bears prior to the start of the parade Ray will check on the availability of Sacred Heart Hall Bill informed the committee that Paul Mazerall appreciated the invitation to be the Chief Marshall but has declined. Bill read a lengthly list of past Chief Marshalls and potential candidates Paul Rouilard was nominated and unanarnously voted to be the Chief Marshall of the Patriots Day 1989 parade Bill will follow up on the invitation. George Gabriel and Charles Price were nominated for the Chief of Staff postion. George Gabriel was voted to be the Chief of Staff of the Patriots Day 1989 parade The Registrar of Motor Vehicles is sending a color guard. Per Pat, the MDC will have a color guard and "seven horses", in the parade The Chief Marshall may choose one aide among the aides in the parade ADJOURNMENT 9.25 p m.
