HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-02-16-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE February 16, 1989 PRESENT Bill Fitzgerald, Pat Flynn, Ray Flynn, Bob Jackson, Jean Coates, John Hayden, Marion Snow Bill Fitzgerald reported as follows Aides to the Chief Marshal , Paul Rouillard, are Joe Rooney Ben Golini Bill Wiles Marshal for Division 1 , John Watson Aides selected for him are Leonard Stone, Earl Blount, Joe Steinkrauss , Jim Leahy Marshal for Division 3, Gresh Lattimore Aides Georgia Smith, Dick Crogan, Paul Cunha Chief Furdon has promised a ranking officer as Division 4 Marshal Bill will try for Aides from the Fire Dept to make a civic balance The CV-16 Group left yesterday for a birthday party to be held on the U S S Lexington in Pensacola The Group has reserved rooms at the Battle Green for Patriots Day weekend. They will provide a Jeep with a replica of the U S S Lexington on a trailer for the Parade Pease A F. Band will not be with us this year Bob Jackson will contact Bill Sandelman, Radio Club , and will write to Chief Bergeron requesting a Color Guard Marion Snow reported that General Galvin will not be with us on Patriots Day but would like to be invited again The Boonton, N J High School Band has expressed interest in marching in the afternoon parade and has been sent an application form and info sheets Pat Flynn reported that the B U Band will perform and has requested to be located in Depot Square Participation of the Fort Devens Band looks promising The National Guard is working up a program for the Day There has been no word from the Town Manager as yet on whether Shriner horses will be permitted in the Parade Paul Rouillard, Chief Marshal , joined the meeting He thanked the Committee for selecting him for the position The Chairman informed of the Aides selected for him and asked him to call them during the coming week 2 George Gabriel , Chief of Staff, arrived at the meeting The Chairman told him of the Aides selected for him Cecil Jones Dan Murphy One more, not yet selected George was asked to call Cecil and Dan during the week to find out if they will accept The Chairman asked Paul Rouillard to call the Division Marshals for Div 1 and Div 3 to ask whether they will accept If they are willing, Paul is to call the 1st Division Aides. George was asked to call Division 3 Aides They will report the outcome at the next meeting The Ch man noted that the Shriners will provide their own Marshal and Aides for Division two Bill asked that Paul and George call a meeting of all Division Marshals and all Aides to inform them of their responsibilities and give them instructions Bill explained that Pat Flynn will be stationed at the Chief Marshal ' s desk in East Lexington while the Parade is forming All Division Marshalls and Aides are to meet at the desk no later than 12 30 p m They were advised that if any problems with units arise, they are to inform Pat and that he will deal with them Ray Flynn urged Paul and George to emphasize to their Aides that courtesy to participating units is very important There was brief discussion as to the selection of of the third Aide for the Chief of Staff The matter was tabled pending further exploration The meeting adjourned at 9 15 p m Secretary pro tem Marion H Snow
