MEETING MINUTES - May 18, 1989
PRESENT Bill Fitzgerald, Chairman, Pat Flynn, 1st Vice Chairman,
Dawn McKenna, Bob Jackson; Adrienne Della Penna, Jean Coates
Chairman Bill called the meeting to order at 8 10 p.m
He stated that Charlie Price, Past Captain-Commanding, LMM, was pleased to
have been asked to be Chief Marshal for Memorial day, but had to decline
He has to return to Texas on business, and would like to have a "rain
check" for a future holiday!
Bill asked for suggestions Names proposed for Chief Marshal were
Paul Cunha, Earl Blount, Bill Wiles, Herb Grossimon, and our own Bob Jackson!
MOTION was made, seconded and carried that Bob Jackson be appointed Chief
Marshal for Memorial Day (n b - he DID accept! )
Dawn McKenna will give the Welcome from the TCC on the Battlegreen, and
introduce Bob - MC for the ceremonies Mrs Smith, chairman-Board of
Selectmen, will read Governor's Proclamation Col Vincent MacDonald,
Base Commander, HAFB, will be Guest Speaker He will be introduced by
Pat Flynn
At Munroe Cemetery, Merritt Friedman, LHS, will give Gettysburg Address,
Greg Suffredini, LHS, General Logan's Orders
Invocation and Benediction will be given at
Westview Cemetery by (?) Rev Papademetriou,
Colonial Cemetery by Fr Healy, St Brigid's,
Battlegreen by Rev Carol Flett, Church of our Redeemer.
Mrs Smith will lay a wreath on the grave of Congressional Medal of Honor
winner, Thomas Cosgrove The LMM Color Guard will wave the US flag over
his grave
Bill stated that the Town will collect all the old wreaths, flags from
designated areas on Saturday/Sunday
Acceptances have been receiv ed from the entire Board of Selectmen,
School Committee, and Superintendent of Schools Geiger
The Board of Selectmen has requested recommendations/names of 3 MEN for
appointment to the TCC Subcommittee
Bill distributed a "sign-up" sheet for a pot-luck supper at his home on
Thursday, June 1st, at 7 p m
