MEETING MINUTES - 11/30/89
PRESENT. Bill Fitzgerald, Ray Flynn, 2nd Vice Chairman, Dawn McKenna, John
Hayden; Bob Jackson; Adrienne Della Penna
Chairman, Bill Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 8.02 p.m.
Veteran's Day went well Bill gave out assignments for writing thank you
letters.
Several groups have asked about the theme for the Patriot's Day float
including the Dance Inn of Lexington
It was decided that it was important to decide on a theme at this meeting
The following themes were considered
Let Freedom Ring
Guiding to Democracy ./ /
American Inventiveness
Democracy. Catch the Spirit
Democracy Follow the Leader/
Oh Freedom'. L/
Leading to Democracy
Democracy Shines ✓ `��
Vive Democracy:
By a vote of 4 in favor, 2 opposed, it was voted to submit Vive Democracy to
the Board of Selectman for their consideration.
Eric Carlson has been assigned to help Adrienne with the floats for this
year's parade.
Pat talked to the National Guard. They expect to send the 315th Band, a
marching unit, and some vehicles. We will pay for their transportation
Bob has made a request of the 94th AirComm but as of his second request, he
had not yet heard
Colonel MacDonald has requested the Pease Air Force Band for us
There has also been an application submitted for the Naval Band.
Meeting adjourned at 8 50 p m
The next scheduled meeting is 12/7/89

Pat indicated that the National Guard Band is coming back again this year
There will also be machine gun units After January, Major Mitch is expected
to have about 100 men to march The Pease Air Force Band may be available to
come He has requested from Fort Devens the 18th Army Band He is also
hoping to get some reserve units
Bill has submitted an application for the New York Fire Department Bagpipe £�
Drum Band It doesn't look good for this year since Easter is also that
weekend For now, the Northeasc" .Naval Band has been reserved for us
The budget of the Committee was discussed We are generally given $10,000 to
cover the three holidays In addition, money is raised from sponsorships to
help fund the parade
The library will again be the assembly area for guests
Bill reported that the Selectmen were not able to consider "Viva Democracy'
at their most recent meeting After some discussion a Motion was made to
reconsider the vote on the theme The motion was approved 4 to 3
It was agreed that Dawn would send out a letter to all members of the
committee informing them that a vote would definitely be taken on January 11
regarding the theme Anyone wishing to submit themes or take part in the vote
should attend that meeting
Meeting adjourned at 9 10 p m
