HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-01-19-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES 1/ 19/89 PRESENT Bill Fitzgerald, Chairman, Pat Flynn, 1st Vice Chairman, Ray Flynn, 2nd Vice Chairman, John Hayden, Adrienne Della Penna, Charlie Hyde, Dawn McKenna, Bob Jackson, Jean Coates, Marion Snow, Marilyn McWeeney Chairman Bill called the meeting to order at 8 05 p m The minutes of 11 / 17/88 and 12/8/88 were accepted as presented. Bill announced that the Committee will have a full table at Paul Mazerall's Retirement dinner Bill will present a gift certificate to Paul from the Committee at the dinner PATRIOTS DAY UPDATE. The PROGRAM OF THE DAY" was passed out and reviewd by Bill with the committee The Youth Parade will start at Four Seasons, assemble at 7 00 am and step off at 7 30 a.m Chief Marshall, voted and approved, will again be the Senior Class President of Lexington High School AFTERNOON PARADE. The parade will begin at Follen and Mass Avenue, 2:00 p.m starting time The Shriners would like to have their horse brigade in the parade Bill asked the committee s opinion. They would be bringing 6-8 saddle horses, fully insured. The committee voted in favor of having the Shriners horse unit march. Bill has put in a request to have the Budweiser Clydesdales in the parade We may be able to get them. Future requests need to be submitted to them by December The MDC Horse Unit was also discussed and we will await their request to be in the parade The Elkslodge will again be available for the Shriners. Possible Floats. Lexington Christian Academy, Elks, Girl Scouts, Armenian School, Rainbow Girls Banner Bearers- Letter needs to be sent to the Supt. of Schools for permission to post notices Chief Marshall, Afternoon Parade The VFW requested that Cecil Jones be considered. Paul Rouilaird was also suggested Bill suggested Paul Mazerall It was voted and passed that Paul Mazerall be asked to accept the position of Chief Marshall of the Patriots Day 1989 Parade The Town Manager has informed Bill that $ 10,000 will be our budget this year and also next. Marion shared the good comments made by the Town Manager about the Committee Digital is a possibility for an out of town sponser Marion shared a letter with the committee re General John R. Galvin, USA. An invitation to Patriots Day will be extended. COMMITTEES. Ray - 98% of letters to bands have gone out, responses coming in slowly Charlie - Paul will help with Boy Scouts Jean - The Town report is finished, thanks for a great job! Pat - B U Concert band will be coming - suggested Emory Park Adrienne - contact college bands Marion - Peter Cohen will be in the Spirit again this,year ADJOURNMENT 9: 15 p m NEXT MEETING 1/26/89 Respectfully submitted: Marilyn N.
