Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Brenchick, Mr. Turner, Mr. Flynn Messrs Grossimon & Schulman of the Lexington Minute Men; Paul Jenkins MINUTES• of the meeting of October 21, 1976 were approved. CORRESPONDENCE Chmn. Barnes read a letter from Dr Kassier of the Selectmen which announced the appointment of the new Town Manager, Mr. Hutchinson, effective Jan.l. He also read a letter from the Minute Men, dated November 28, 1976, a copy of which is attached. He reported that the budget request submitted for 1978 is $7500.00. VETERANS DAY; It was moved, seconded and voted unanimously that a check for $50 00 should be sent to the Lexington High School Band in recognition of their assistance with the events of the day. FLAGPOLE DEDICATION - FLAG RAISING. Mrssrs Grossimon and Schulman visited the TCC in order to help plan for whatever ceremonies might be arranged by the TCC in response to the letter from the Selectmen. Four TCC members had been able to discuss the matter at the scheduled meeting of November 18, however, since no quorum was present and the date of the arrival of the flagpole was unknown at that time, no specific decisions had been reached. The TCC agreed that, in principle, the occasion warranted special recognition and felt that both the season of the year and the uncertainty of an arrival date would make a formal dedication ceremony more appropriate in April, in conjunction with the celebration of Patriots Day. However, in light of the expressed request that the Committee plan such an observance to be held before the end of 1976, a tentative program was agreed upon. Those TCC members able to be present at the upcoming Selectmen's meeting of Monday, December 6, will ask for further direction and information at that time. The tentative program agreed upon, if the December dedication is deemed most desirable, is as follows Welcome and Introduction of Distinguished Guests (Chmn. Barnes) Reading of a Proclamation (Resolution) - Member of Bicentennial Corp. Dedication of the Flagpole (Chairman- Board of Selectmen) Raising of the Flag - Lexington Minute Men To the Colors - Bugler - Lexington High School Pledge of Allegiance (Paul Jenkins - Eagle Scout) The. National Anthem ( the LHS Band, if available, or, perhaps, sung by Mr. Henry Tuck) Benediction Mrs. Litchfield will contact Mr. Gillespie of the High School and Mr. Tuck. She will also alert Mr. Michelson of the Bicentennial Corporation, and all other potential participants and guests. The TCC will, of course, be in communication with the Minute Men regarding scheduling and, our specific request that their part of the ceremonies not include the Pledge of Allegiance. It was agreed that the alternate dates, if a December dedication is possible, would be Sunday, December 12 and/or Sunday, December 19, at 2 00 pm. PATRIOTS DAY: Among items discussed were the date for 1977 (we will, celebrate on the LEGAL HOLIDAY) , candidates for the post of Chief Marshal, and Mrs. Litch- field's report that the Visitors Information Center was getting inquiries as to parade participation. All questions should be referred to Chmn. Barnes, if possible. THE TCC WILL MEET ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, AT THE VISITORS CENTER. Respectfully submitted, Ruth M.
