October 21, 1976
PRESENT: Chinn. Barnes, Mr. Gaughan, Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Brenchick,
Mr. Flynn, Mr. Turner, Mr. Fitzgerald
Paul Jenkins
MINUTES: of the meetings of September 30 and October 8 were approved
CORRESPONDENCE Chmn. Barnes read a copy of a letter sent to the Selectmen by
the Lexington Minute Men regarding the wish of that group to participate in any
ceremonies of dedication which might be scheduled following the installation of the
new flagpole on the BattleGreen.
VETERANS DAY: Mrs Litchfield reported that she still had had no word from the
National Guard, although their letter of invitation was sent on September 11 Paul
Jenkins said that there would be members of Troop #119, Boy Scouts, in the parade.
Chairman Barnes commented that the schedule for publication of the Lexington
Minute Man might be such that any pre-parade publicity would need to be featured
in the edition of November 4; Mrs. Litchfield has material to give to Mrs. Hazel
which will help her prepare an article about the speaker of the day, General Zeoli.
The parade roster material should be completely prepared by the meeting of
October 28, in order to make the Minute Man deadline.
PREPARATION FOR SELECTMEN'S MEETING - scheduled for October 25 Chairman Barnes
reviewed the summary of committee expenses for the years 1970 through 1974, since
both the Chairman and the Committee had commented several times that expenses for
the parades of 1975 and 1976 did not reflect an accurate picture of the probable
April 19 parade expenses which will need to be budgeted for 1978. The Chairman
noted that TCC expenses for both Veterans Day and Memorial Day had been considerably
diminished during the last few years.
MEETING SCHEDULE. The TCC will meet on October 28, November 4, and November 18.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth Mitchell, Recording Secretary
