April 21, 1977
PRESENT. Mr Brenchick (Acting Chairman) , Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Flynn,
Mr. Turner
Chief Marshal Bean, Chief of Staff Coates, Mr Grossimon, Mr. Schulman,
Paul Jenkins
CORRESPONDENCE Mrs Litchfield will reserve the Visitor's Center for meetings each
Thursday night in May. Bills for various units are beginning to come in, a complete
vote on bills in hand was deferred for action at the meeting of April 28, however,
those ready for signature by TCC Chairman Barnes will be processed during the
upcoming week so as to expedite payment.
It was agreed that Mrs. Litchfield should write special letters of thanks
to Bellino's Doughnut Shop, Rosina's Kitchen, The Alexander Central High School
Band, all unit sponsors and all who helped the TCC by the donation of services
and/or equipment. The bill for the police lunch has come to the TCC.
REENACTMENT Messrs. Grossimon and Schulman of the Minute Men presented a
viewing of a still-to-be-edited motion picture of the Battle Reenactment for
the enjoyment of all present. It was agreed that there had been no problems
with the Reenactment other than the slightly late arrival by the British Mr.
Grossimon also noted that the MinuteMen had also engaged a bus to transport
marchers to the Adams School morning parade assembly area.
MORNING PARADE Comments regarding various details were made by those present.
The only confusion in assembly took place at the Munroe area when at least one
group managed to get a bit out of order despite the best efforts of the parade
staff.
Mr Grossimon asked the TCC to consider the possibility of some shortening
of the parade route in years to come. All had noted the lack of viewers in
the area between Adams School and the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Marrett
Road; to be explored next year is the question of possible parade assembly
in the parking lot of the Museum of Our National Heritage - with all age groups
assembling there.
POINTS FOR DISCUSSION ANOTHER YEAR:
Banner-carriers - if these are our responsibility, they must be pledged
to appear and to serve. The High School students did not arrive.JIri addition, the
lower edge of the banners needs to be weighted more securely. All banners will
be usable next year.
"Relief Vans" used by the various marching units. Many of the
units wish to have these included in the line of march directly behind the bands,
D&B's, etc They have not been allowed, in general. This policy does need to
be discussed again. It was noted that there were some First Aid facilities along
the way and that the walkie-talkies could bring up immediate care if necessary.
Walkie-talkies - Chief Marshal Bean commented that there should be
one per division for smooth parade control
Parade Breakup - always a problem. The actual line of march to be
taken by the Chief of Staff, directions to be given in parade orders, parking
arrangements, etc. need discussion, with input from the Lexington Police.
MEMORIAL DAY, Preliminary plans were made, with all agreeing that the format
of past years would again be suitable. Further plans will be made on April 28.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth Mitchell, Recording Secretary
