HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-03-10-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March 10, 1977 PRESENT Vice-chairman Gaughan (presiding) , Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Hazel, Mrs Mitchell, Mr Flynn, Mr Fitzgerald, Mr Turner Messrs Grossimon and Schulman of the Lexington Minutemen, Paul Jenkins CORRESPONDENCE Mrs Litchfield reported calls from the Boxford Minutemen(have they been invited - answer, yes) , and from Captain Lima of the Lexington Police reminding the TCC that the new traffic light at Munroe School requires that the 14 foot limit on float height be strictly observed, since the light standard will otherwise be damaged OLD BUSINESS According to Messrs Grossimon and Schulman, the Sunday afternoon planned Dedication of the Flagpole is a most satisfactory arrangement The plans of the Minutemen for the Battle Reenactment are proceeding well and although the British 10th Regiment of Foot has not yet accepted, it is assumed that they will participate again this year The TCC agreed that bus transportation for the British from similar to that provided last year could be promised, with the British to make their own arrange- ments and the TCC to assume the costs for bus, as well as their gunpowder The TCC requested that the Minutemen assume particular responsibility in instructing the colonial pickets about reviewing stand arrangements CHECKLIST The Patriots Day checklist was reviewed insofar as TCC members had any new information to report or questions to ask Mr Gaughan noted that Chairman Barnes would be unable to attend TCC meetings due to his employment schedule in the next few weeks and asked that all members plan to bring all potential cost figures for each item within the individual's area of responsibility to the meeting scheduled for March 17 At that time, the estimated expenses will be reviewed most carefully so that the remaining monies available may be allocated toward marching units INVITATIONS To all colonial units have been issued, some of the civic and fraternal organizations have not yet been contacted Mrs Litchfield has invited all guests for the luncheon and reviewing stand aside from Hanscom Field personnel - she is waiting for an accurate list of officers from the Public Relations Office at Hanscom before sending those invitations She will consult with Chairman Barnes YOUTH PARADE Mrs Mitchell has made necessary arrangements for personal contact with Andy Liu, Senior Class President, through Mr Ralph Lord She will write to invite Andy and such staff as wish to attend to the TCC meeting of March 24 PUBLICITY Mrs Hazel has prepared the copy of our Program of the Day to be sent to the Mayor's Office, .City of Boston, via Representative Cole It was agreed that other publicity should be submitted to the Minute Man on a weekly schedule from now on OTHER BUSINESS The Selectmen have been informed of our plans to hold the Flagpole Dedication on Sunday, April 17 Mrs Litchfield will leave a copy of the program of the day (April 18) at their office It is understood that no Fiske Hill ceremony is being planned Respectfully submitted, Ruth M Mitchell, Recording Secretary
