March 10, 1977
PRESENT Vice-chairman Gaughan (presiding) , Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Hazel, Mrs Mitchell,
Mr Flynn, Mr Fitzgerald, Mr Turner
Messrs Grossimon and Schulman of the Lexington Minutemen, Paul Jenkins
CORRESPONDENCE Mrs Litchfield reported calls from the Boxford Minutemen(have they
been invited - answer, yes) , and from Captain Lima of the Lexington Police reminding
the TCC that the new traffic light at Munroe School requires that the 14 foot limit
on float height be strictly observed, since the light standard will otherwise be
damaged
OLD BUSINESS According to Messrs Grossimon and Schulman, the Sunday afternoon
planned Dedication of the Flagpole is a most satisfactory arrangement The plans of
the Minutemen for the Battle Reenactment are proceeding well and although the British
10th Regiment of Foot has not yet accepted, it is assumed that they will participate
again this year The TCC agreed that bus transportation for the British from similar
to that provided last year could be promised, with the British to make their own arrange-
ments and the TCC to assume the costs for bus, as well as their gunpowder The TCC
requested that the Minutemen assume particular responsibility in instructing the colonial
pickets about reviewing stand arrangements
CHECKLIST The Patriots Day checklist was reviewed insofar as TCC members had any
new information to report or questions to ask Mr Gaughan noted that Chairman
Barnes would be unable to attend TCC meetings due to his employment schedule in the
next few weeks and asked that all members plan to bring all potential cost figures
for each item within the individual's area of responsibility to the meeting scheduled
for March 17 At that time, the estimated expenses will be reviewed most carefully so
that the remaining monies available may be allocated toward marching units
INVITATIONS To all colonial units have been issued, some of the civic and fraternal
organizations have not yet been contacted Mrs Litchfield has invited all guests for
the luncheon and reviewing stand aside from Hanscom Field personnel - she is waiting
for an accurate list of officers from the Public Relations Office at Hanscom before
sending those invitations She will consult with Chairman Barnes
YOUTH PARADE Mrs Mitchell has made necessary arrangements for personal contact with
Andy Liu, Senior Class President, through Mr Ralph Lord She will write to invite
Andy and such staff as wish to attend to the TCC meeting of March 24
PUBLICITY Mrs Hazel has prepared the copy of our Program of the Day to be sent to
the Mayor's Office, .City of Boston, via Representative Cole It was agreed that
other publicity should be submitted to the Minute Man on a weekly schedule from now
on
OTHER BUSINESS The Selectmen have been informed of our plans to hold the Flagpole
Dedication on Sunday, April 17 Mrs Litchfield will leave a copy of the program of
the day (April 18) at their office It is understood that no Fiske Hill ceremony is
being planned
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth M Mitchell, Recording Secretary
