The check list was reviewed UNIT SPONSORSHIP Mr Michelson, representing the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, reviewed with the TCC various avenues for approaching businesses, either individually or through the Chamber, to discuss the possibility of sponsorship of units in the afternoon parade It was agreed that the TCC would prepare a letter containing pertinent information which could be published in the upcoming Chamber Newsletter TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE - Minutes, March 4, 1977 Page 2 Response to this letter will serve as a guide to the next steps to be taken by the TCC It was noted that, depending on the response, it would be possible for a business to assume full costs of a unit, for a business to assume partial costs (with the assumption that, should this route be taken, each business should con- tribute the same amount to "unit sponsorship") , or, perhaps, sponsorship of some other event of the day in such a way that funds for marching units could be diverted from the other events Methods of recognition of business sponsorship were also discussed, it was agreed that proper identification would be needed This identi- fication should be of "identification" rather than "advertising" nature with signs, banners, etc of such nature as not to detract from the units themselves The matter will be discussed further at the meeting of March 10 The Coast Guard Academy will not be able to send either a band or a marching unit to participate in the parade MORNING PARADE Mrs Mitchell has contacted Mr Lord in regard to parade staff An invitation from the TCC to the Senior Class President, Andy Liu, should be written so that he may ask any questions of the committee at a regularly scheduled meeting It is assumed that the traditional ceremonies will be scheduled, since the flagpole dedication will have already taken place Respectfully submitted, Ruth M Mitchell, Recording Secretary
