Town of Lexington

Dear Mr. Busa:
I am writing on behalf of our Nominating Committee
to ask your help in identifying individuals in your
community who might wish to serve on a Community Advisory
Council for Symmes Hospital.
Choate Hospital in Woburn and Symmes Hospital in
Arlington consolidated on April 1, 1981 to become Choate-
Symmes Health Services, Inc . The new organization includes
the two hospitals and the Regional Health Center in
Wilmington, a satellite ambulatory care facility opened
by Choate Hospital in 1978 .
Thirty-six member Advisory Councils are being formed
for each facility to serve as liaison between the commun-
ities served and the corporation. The Councils will assist
in the continuing improvement of hospital services; the
planning of health services in response to demonstrated
needs, particularly as they relate to community and elderly
services; and to advise the Board of Trustees in all related
matters.
More specifically, the Community Advisory Councils
shall be involved in all major policy changes, i.e. , new
corporate initiatives, the closing of a major service,
filing of a Determination of Need application, and any
major building or construction programs; and will be
expected to provide feedback from the communities on
community perceptions related to the delivery of health
care and response to community needs.
Our Nominating Committee will meet again on
