Minutes of Meeting - May 6, 1980

Specifications were received regarding curbside collection. It was noted that the
notice should have on it "Landfill to be closed July 1, 1980"
Discussion ensued about recycling The Manager and Mr Empey pointed out problems
running rec-'cling center at the DPW barn It was agreed that an experimental
program would be tried at the barn on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 00 a.m to 4 30 p.m.
subject to acproval by the Board of Selectmen. The committee agreed to work with the
Litz on a ma-ling that would address recycling as well as regulations governing
curbside collection. Mr Empey indicated he would check into the aluminum materials
programs being run by other communities specifically dealing with the Oxford recycling
program that allows glass and cans to be mixed. The Manager advised the Committee
that this item will not come up until May 19 on the Board's agenda as routes are
still being designated by the contractor
D''r Reilly re"iewed the status of NESWC pointing out that it still had problems
gettinc municipalities to sign on but remains the most viable proposition when
looting at other alternates. He pointed out that the Beverly (Titan) project. had
recentlj folded and that Route 128 West was still looking for a site It was
agreed that the Committee would continue to concentrate on NESWC while following
other undertakings
