Present N Banks, J Halverson, J Mollo-Christiansen, B Nowak, W. Sen, M. Wood.
Nancy Banks reported on a meeting with two directors of the Hayden Center. They
expressed interest in the possibility of having a Senior Center occupying a part
of the second floor of the Hayden Center A list of specifications would be
required for further discussion, including times of operation An elevator would
have to be installed and restrooms renovated for barrier-free access There is
the general feeling that Hayden is an underused facility However, the space
discussed was less than the square footage cited in the preliminary design
requirements written earlier
The Committee reviewed the preliminary design requirements used in the HUD
grant application written by the CoA last year Bill Sen reported that if the
Council were to write these specs now two additional health-related service facilities
would be included
1) A well-elderly clinic,
2) Daycare for the frail elderly
The needs assessment subcommittee gave its report The general recommendations
are that the Council on Aging have more staff, and that outreach and other pro-
grams be increased.
The Committee agreed that a preliminary discussion should be held with the
Selectman in charge of human services, Jim Crain
