Hall said the com- mittee would like to se' as early a closed! e os thh, contract as possible Mr Chuzann said h client want d to know if the committee would act in good faith he stated that he did not want to get into an adversary position , and submitted that every request was bona fide and well doc'nu vied Mr Cohen asked tihat document_ included these requests Mr C :n .anno replied "The letters speak for therm elves There are, no nore claim:. or re- quf1sts th, l. you have not heard about , but on the other hand , we do reserve the right to mate further ala ins in the future " A discussion of the Punch List followed, White Construction quoted a figure of $14 ,000 as the current amount Si2 ,000 for the roofing hold , and $;' ,000 for the cafeteri%400rinq They (142) I assured the committee that both items would be taken care of that week Hr Chaleki , speaking for the architects , said that his figure was $21,800 as oiFf, M.3rch 25 , and on that date he had sent White Construction a letter stating this amount - Mr Danforth said this letter had never been received Dr Fitzgerald suggested that since the arch tcet and con- tractor could not agree on the figures , they should meet and settle the differences I'he conn, i.tee , h, noted, could not discuss anything on the basis of conflic erg data It was agreed that these parties would meet imm :diately in another room of the school to go over their figures hl Canzanno then suggested that a meeting be scheduled between himself, Mr Cohen , and the building subcommittee Mrs Smith spoke $' in favor of having the whole committee pro ,nnt , Mssrs Hall and Heinrich disagreed; Mr tierluzzo proposed, and it was AGREED, that any member of the committee who wi ;hed to attend the building sub committee's meeting might do so Mr deStefano requested "clarific tion from the committee ort L„ the architect as to the [-umber of punch lists , they keep ap• A ' peering out of the air, if this goes on, the building will ,.` never be finished We want a finality to the punch list :' ' t .7 Dr Fit gerald suggested that both parti s forward statement n`i4ap`. of their respective _; t <" ' p . positions to the superintendent 's office saying that if they could not agree, there s no reason for'. them to come before the co'nmitt.:e This procedure was AGREED to by ali < ` ,+ t t .rcr(% Chairman Cron requested a copy of the stenographic transcription “ from Mr deStefano, and this wa, also agreed upon The contr;ae x or, the architect, and their representatives withdrew at this. S' ; time MANAGEMENT Dr Fitzgerald presented for discussion his Management Overvjev. External Advisors Teams made up of DOE personnel and others T invited by them will he visiting the s'ch¢pl to observe and advise There ere t least two benefits to `tihe ' k a school , said Dr Fitzgerald the DOE' s approval is a preretlui- ;,;rr, . ?? site for obtaining Chapter 74 reimbursement , and t.h, school gains by seeing how they appear to the eyes o. outsiders These acti- vities do take up valuable staff time but the school ' s program must be evaluated and certified by the state Hr I-lerluzzo questioned whether extra-curricular activities such as time-sharing , occupational competence and adult education were overloading the school 's personnel resources Dr Fitz- gerald replied that extensive contact and conmun cation with the district and the state put the school in a better position to obtain needed assistance in the future Advisory committee memb< rship had been proposed for all vocational clusters , and lists would be presented for vote at tht next com- (144) mittee meeting Besides providing valuable suggestions for programs at the school , these advisory committees will increase the chances for successful employer—based programs , and perhaps for obtaining access to specialized equipment Equipment Cosmetology needs equipment file clbinete are needed fat report cards , many needs have gone unfilled because of the purchasing moratorium The gas station is now ready to operate , even licensed (but is waiting for development of an adequate fiscal control system) It is hoped that major purchasing can be renewed in April tr To fill an immediate need , at the advice of the Superintendent- Director, it was MOVED by Mr piali , SECONDED by Mr Merluzzo, and VOTED UNANIMOUSLY To approve the purchase of two vacuum lc ,,ers , one costing 5450 , the other priced at $1 170 but costing,; $895 because of a $275 credit , both vacuum cleaners to he pur- t4 chased from Sansation Corporation 3. ,�, A+ y (OAP Curriculum Planning E Evaluation A major need at Minuteman , ' Dr Fitzgerald seated, :is `"'"q , ',`�aw for i specification of gracuation requirements 'lie have to �'�',�1.•,... v get across that we can ' t g ve credit for wort: not done, and b(, ;.,t , that students cannot gradr.rct:c. without sufficient credits Also;;. x,>;. ;�a,u2 attenchrice is important A student night be .able to master the A -' ; subject matter on his own ,.L home, but good work habits (that ,c;n-call . can be certified) are important to the future employer P Drs., 'ri Fitzgerald noted that students now in their ,econd year may ;; have difficulty making up deficiencies far college entrance or ,„ admission to other Higher institutions °ee Vocational schools have a handicap ; if a college requires a. year of foreign language for entrance , a vocational Student will 'k have to take two years , since only half his time is spent in, 'tJ.t , e, academic area it takes four y .ars for him to get credit, fq"r••fr'� " 'c''� .w two years of science """f' , .' 1.
