As of March '25 we are meeting this goal with only 15% in tier 2.5-3 ESL students being included. o Math intervention. Sarah Majors just returned from maternity leave and she is the math coach. There is also a 1/2 time resource. Teachers attended a continuing ed class last week which was taught in part by Mrs Majors focused around how to use questions to lead math thinking. o For both literacy and math support, there are data collection meetings 3x a year with progress monitoring in between so there are multiple opportunities for students to be given the support that they need throughout the year. • Regarding MCAS being on the chromebook: Discussion around chromebooks and typing. Students start using a chromebook in second grade and start accessing Typing Club (computer program/app) in 3rd grade. Typing club is available to help students learn how to type and there are different opportunities throughout the school day for students to spend time practicing. • Discussion of placement process steps and considerations; o Parent input form: a chance for parents to give input on their child's needs and what works well/what doesn't work well for them o Secondly considerations on the student's behavioral and work style are added in along with whether or not they are on any special plan( 504, IEP etc) • SBC Support of Broader Community: Group discussed the possibility of spreading the word to more parents on the need for more parent volunteers to support teacher -led events like literacy night along with programs such as Understanding our differences and Big Backyard. One parent suggested a calendar of all events needing volunteers with some type of indicator of which events were more in dire need of help so that parents are able to understand the biggest areas of need. o Possibility of an educational night for parents to understand the importance of volunteering.
