PATRIOTS DAY
Mr. Lord chairmaned our meeting and went over the new parade route with our guests.
He stated we would have a longer parade with a better start and finish because of
the new route. He stressed the new route was for the afternoon parade only The
Sunrise Parade will form at the Adams School and march down to the Green on
Massachusetts Avenue as in years past.
Ruth Leiby was told we could use ten girls to act as Aides for our afternoon
parade. She reported that the Girl Scouts would have a float in that parade
accompanied by some marchers. The G.S Drum band will march in the AM parade.
Rainbow Girls and Demolay Boys will march in both parades also The Grace Chapel
groups will march in the AM parade only
The Committee asked that the names of the children who give the various oaths,
promises, etc at the morning program on the Green be submitted to us as soon
as possible, so that they may receive publicity in our Lexington Minute-Mau.
Mrs. Richards commented that there was no one in charge at the entrance to the
Munroe cemetery where the younger groups line up for the AM parade The Committee
assured her one of our own members would be there this year to see that all goes
smoothly
The Summer Coop representatives want to enter a float in the PM parade. We told
them an application would be sent them.
Our Float Meeting will be on Thursday, March 8th in Room 0-15 Mrs. Reed will put
publicity to this effect in the Minute-Man.
The group from Plymouth, New Hampshire who marched in the inaugural parade are the
Royal Eagles Drum and Drill Corps They have 70 members and were 1972 State Champs
We will welcome them to our PM parade and pay them $250.00
Clan MacPherson's Bagpipe Band is coming at a cost of $200.00.
Mre. Litchfield will write to Donald Cornwell, Trainer, K-Nine Corner Dog Training
Club of Lexington and say we are pleased to have his 18 trained dogs in PM parade
All dogs are on short leads, but to avoid any problems, she will put in writing that
the Town of Lexington cannot be held responsible for any incidents The Committee
feels the risk is very minima]., however
Mrs. Litchfield will write to St Peter's Bagpipe Band in Gloucester saying we need
U more information regarding the number of members in their band, etc, before we can
invite them to participate in our PM parade.
Aleppo Temple has now offered their Brass Band, Horse Patrol, and Medical Unit which
supposedly accompanies their groups Mrs. Litchfield will inform them we do not
want their Horse patrol, we do want their Brass Band, and we need more information

excellent. She will also invite back the Nutmeg Volunteers Fife & Drum Corps
