HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-07-26-CONCOM-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES of Commission meeting July 26, 1971. The meeting was called to order by the Vice-Chairman Dr. Kessler at 8:00 p.m. , with Mesdames Frick and Rawls as well as Associate Members Dr. Friedman and Mesdames Nichols and Solomon present. Minutes of July 12, 1971 will be approved, pending check with Mr. Brown, at next meeting. Minutes of the July 19, 1971 meeting were approved as written. Meetings in August will be Mondays, evenings of the 9th and 23rd. Name the Conservation Jori effort will be publicized in the Minute Man beginning nexf week. Mesdames Frick and Greene will work on preparing an article and accompanying map of all conserves tion lands in Town. Preparing Mellor Planning Efforts Walking of possible lands will begin_ in tae Assessor' s Office where name of owner, acreage, assess- ment, etc. will be obtained by Mrs. Rawls. Where necessary, owners' permission will be obtained. Mrs. Greene will work on getting copies of assessors maps through the Engineering Department. An informal meeting of members of the Commission will take place at the home of Dr. Kessler on Sunday morning, August 15 at 9:45 a.m. Mrs. Rawls has visited the Planning Board office. Mr. Feanessy is working on updating the old open-space plan, particularly in relation to recreation needs. Their work is not necessarily a duplication of Commission efforts. Recommended the Commission be in touch with the Planning Board and financial committees when planning efforts ars somewhat concrete but not necessarily finalized. A list of watershed and lands needed has been begun during the past year and will be completed soon and divided into a three- year program. Assistants from the CLC will be asked to bring a camera and take careful notes. Mrs. Nichols is preparing a checklist so that all land-walking people will know what to look for and find out. DPW Meeting on Environt:lal Requirement,. Dr. Friedman distribu- ted copies of the DPW ut athe meeing , which was attended also by Messrs. Cataldo, Costello and O' Connell. Greet Me.dow summary reports will be mailed in envelopes specially imprinted "Town of Lexington' and prepared for mailing in the Town mailing room (to Town Meeting Members. They will go out early in September at the same time Arlington sends out its copies. Proposed Gas Station on Bedford Street (Torhet Swamp) . It was reported that the DNA recently took aerial photographs of a section of the Town as part of a study of the Charles River watershed. Mr. Brown will be asked to find out more about this. Executive session was declared between 8 17 and 8:22 for the purpose of suggesting revisions in the notes of July 12 , 1971.
