Associate members present were Mesdames Rawls and Solomon and Messrs Friedman and Reiner Article 77 Although the issue of the article was not con- servation, members of the Commission expressed concern about the amount of filing that had already been done in the area. The lot releaseTrom restriction is low and now had a drainage ditch diagonally across it. Filling would involve a Hatch Act hearing. Other Town Meeting Post Mortems Mr. Brown will arrange a A prJ 7O meeting with the Board of Selectmen^to facilitate action on conservation purchases voted in 1971 Initial steps of applying for Federal and State Aid have been taken, including requesting plans from owners . Additional requirements for cooperation of Selectmen and Town Counsel will be reviewed Action on 1970 Articles Federal applications are ready to go with a few exceptions A copy of the complete application has been sent Town Counsel via Town Manager and Board of Selectmen (with opportunity for them to peruse) Awaited are Fris$ore and Soule options and legal wording for the Certificate of Recording Officer (in past applications the Chairman of the Conservation Commission) . Flooding Problem on Marrett Road Mrs Frick has received a letter from Mrs. Margaret McCarthy of 454 Marrett Road and she will look into it. Hatch Act Notification about Junior High School Project approval from DNR has been received Since public agencies are exempt from the requirement of written appoval of the Conserva- tion Commission, this is the first notice the Commission re- ceived. Organization of Commission for Program Panning Since the next few years are crucial ones for land acquisition, it was recom- mended that the Commission organize into subcommittees , including Associate members Question arose as to whether division of re- sponsibility should be by superblocks or type of land - wet or other. All present agreed to think about it durA'ig the coming week and to bring in pertinent maps and plans Madeliffe maps were mentioned as possibly being helpful ) Great Meadow Report. Although the Report has not been officially released, the Boards of Selectmen of both towns have already re- ceived copies Some of the information may be needed by Arlington Town Meeting, still lengthily in progress Agreed to give copies of the report of Mr O' Connell and Mr Zeleski - not for publication. A Mrs O' Shaughnessy of Ivan Street telephoned Mrs Frick and expressed concern that Challet Susse may be filling to') much Mrs Frick checked with Mr. McSweeney and Mr Irwin Mr Irwin inspected and said the work being done by the motel in connection with the building of their new wing and restaurant was all proper. However, the property owner next door is now in the process of "levelling off" his property, ap- parently to improve appearances Residents of the area are also concerned about pollution and rodents in the Town sanitary landfill area Seedling Town Forest Mrs Frick is Secretary in charge of publicity for a special committee to plan and supervise the establishment of a seedling forest, as voted at the January Special Town Meeting The Committee, organized by Mr O' Connell, includes Mr Maclnnis of the School Department, William Page, Town Meeting Member and Paul Mazerall, The Committee has de- cided that the seedling forests should be planted where needed throuout the Town Also invoied are the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and the High School Ecology Group through their advisor Miss Lamie First planting of the 4 to 14-inch seedlings will be at the Bowman School on April 29 at 3 p.m. Present will be a representative of the Board of Selectmen, Mrs Peck of Camp Fire Girls , Mrs Totman of Girl Scouts and Robert Sawyer of Boy Scouts Other proposed seedling forest areas are the Steeves property , the sanitary landfill (screening) , Eldred Street and the Baskin Playground Postponed until the next meeting were the schedule for May meetings and approval of Minutes dating from February 22 The meeting adjourned at 9 40, until Tuesday , April 20 Respectfully submitted, Mrs Erna S Greene, Secretary to the Commission
