meeting with the Planning Board, from 8 00 p.m. to 8: 30, under
the Chairmanship of Mr. Lund, Chairman of the Planning Board.
Present were Commission members Mr. Brown, Mrs. Friclu, Dr, Kassler
and Mr. Mazerall and associate members Mr. Friedman, Mrs. Rawls,
Mr. Reiner, Mr. Smith and Mrs. Solomon. All members of the Planning
Board, two members of the Design Advisory Committee, ,Mr. Zaleski
and Tom Curran of the Minute Man were also present.
Meagherville Articles. Commission reiterated its stand as agreed
at its February 22 meeting: that Commission would approve rezoning
of Hickory Street site (article 70) if conditions mentioned in the
February 12 letter from the DNR to the Board of Select men could
be met. The lower-lying Myrtle Street site (Article 69) should
not be developed. The Planning Board said they did not understand
the specifics of the DNR request. Agreed that Mr. Brown of the
Commission should request clarification from DNR.
Mark Moore Proposal off Bedford Street. Commission said it could
not take a stand on housing proposals. Planning Board asked about
affects of drainage, since the brook draining the property it part
of the Shawsheen watershed system. The developer/architect has
stated that a substantial portion of the site can be drained to the
northwest via Carol Lane and then enter the brook farther down.
stream , Mr Zaleski reported, saying he did not see adverse ef-
fects in this The Commission agreed.
Cataldo Farm Rezoning Proposal (Article 74) . Dr. Kassler stated
that the Commission is opposed to this because the owner must have
begun planning development as the land was being filled. (It was
reported that Mr. Cataldo first visited the Planning
Board on September 14 for advice) , The Planning Board questioned
closely exactly how much filling was actually done and posed two
hypothetical questions. Would the Commission object to the develop-
ment if no filling had been done? Mrs. Frick mentioned that this
area had been included in the Great Meadow Study, due to be received
by the Towns of Arlington and Lexington February 15. Would the
Commission approve if the development were relocated to occupy
only the higher ground on both the Ralph Cataldo and the adjoining
Cataldo family land? Dr. Kassler said this would possibly be less
objectionable but he did not want to answer for the Commission.
Commission members agreed to adjourn at 8 :30, until their next
meeting on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Mrs. Erna S. Greene
Secretary to the Commission
