CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES of Commission meeting August 9, 1971.
The meeting was ended to order by the Chairman Mr. Brown, with
Mrs. Frick and Dr. t\assler present. Also in attendance were Messrs.
Friedman, ivlazerall and Reiner and Mesdames Nichols and Solomon, and
Mr. Robert Cataldo avpeared briefly.
Minutes of July 12 and July 26 approved as written, 'with the follow-
ing omissions from the minutes of July 12 Sentence 2, paragraph
3, and the word, "aaditional" from last sentence, paragraph 6.
Last sentence of that paragraph should read "Distritubion will be
made in early September. "
Hatch Act will be discussed by the Board of Selectmen with a re-
presentative of the DNR from 8 to 8:30 Monday night, August 16.
The Commission has been invited to attend.
HUD Contract for ; 39,000 grant (covering Drummer Boy and other
1970-voted parcels in the Eldred Street neighborhood) has been
received and is ready to be signed.
History of Commission for Minute Man Anniversary Issue . The
Editor of the Minute Man is asking all Town Boards and Committees
to produce their history by the end of August for the anniversary
issue of the newspaper. Mrs. Frick will coordinate the effort,
with assistance from Mrs. Rawls and Frank Smith on the background
of the formation of the Commission. It was agreed that the
work of Aiden Ripley, Steve Ells and Jules Sussman should be
commended. Mr. Brown will provide a list of conservation ac-
quisitions and parcels voted for acquisition, including financial
facts.
Namina_ Conservation Lands. No suggestions have yet been received.
The CLC would like extra copies of the map for their next meettag
August 19. More maps and information will be produced for the
schools when they open.
Planning. Mrs. Nichols has borrowed the Radcliffe study maps from
the Library. Showing them, sits pointed out the- advantages of over-
laying same-sized maps on tissue or mylar. The Commission will meet
informally at the home of Dr. Kessler on Sunday, August 15, at 9.45 a.
Gas Station on Bedford Street proposal. The Planning Board has
asked the Commission for its opinion on it.
The Commission declared executive session at 8 45 and adjourned
at 9:45. The next meeting of the Commission is August 23, with
a possibility that a meeting will be called for 9 p.m. . August
16, 1971.
