Mooting held on March 21, 1966 author= ia:ed the Selectman to obtain preliminary plans and specifications for alterations and additions to the existing Town Office Buildings and for construction of an additional Town Office Building. The sum of $2,000 was appropriated in conjunction with this article0 The Selectmen appointed the following committee to assist the Board in carrying out the intent of the Town Meeting vote Robert Cataldo, Selectman, representing the Board John H. Blaisdell, representing the Appropriation Committee *Hugh M. Chapin Albert. Gray, Ex=^.cutive Assistant to the Board **John Carroll, Supt. of Public Works and Town Engineer Otis Brown Richard M. Perrsy o Coaaapts:oller *Mark Ma ore, replaced H 3gh Mm Chapin **John McSweeney. Town Engineer replaced John Carroll. Selectmen Robert C-ata1do was elected Chairman of the Committee. SPACE PROBLEM RECOGNIZED £4ost of the members of this committee had already served on the Committee studying the space requirements of the Public Works Garege, and recognized at that time; the need for additional office space in the Town Office Building Thin wan brought out in their report on the Garage, which was submitted in February, 1966. That committee had conducted a month-long traffic sur4ey in the two Town Office Buildings. Every person entering the buildings were counted and asked whether his trip included business with both the Public Works Department and some other Town Department. In addition a close check wan kept in arc departments , on the number of bussisseus visits Which could not have been made by telephone) that employees made between all other departments, and the Public Works Administration. Based on the results of the survey° the. Garage committee voted unanimously on September 140 1965, to recommend to the Selectmen that the Public Works Administration and Engineering section should remain in the Town Office Building. The possibility of moving the Police Department to the Munroe School, when and if it was to ha phased out, wan investigated.
