Ii meeting of the commission was held on 15 March 1970 at 7:30 PM
in the Visitors Center, Present were Bernier, Clarke, Conroy,
Early, Graham, Greeley, Mittelman, Riffin and Skov. Also present
was Norma MeGavern representing Mrs. Christensen,
The commission discussed and voted on action positions on various
articles in the 1970 Town Warrant.

Group By-lair. It was agreed that Mr. Greeley ARTICLE 82
woulcake the motion and give the floor to Mr. Michelman
to make a brief presentation.

Mr. Graham reported that the Planning Board
recommends approval of both articles, They are satisfied that
most of the land is buildable and that proper treatment of the
site will probably loner the water level.
Mr. Greeley reported that the Board of Selectmen supports
both articles, If the enabling legislation permits, the Board
will wait until the IIA decides which piece will be used and
then transfer only that piece, reserving the remainder for the
town.
VOTED unanimously to support both articles, with the under-
standing that the HA will build no more than 50 units and return
unused land to the town.

It was agreed that Messrs Earsy and Bernier would prepare
and present the commission's position, The statement should
support the objectives and general provisions, emphasizing the
concept that the town has a responsibility toward metropolitan
Boston and that this action will demonstrate Lexington's commit-
ment to that concept.

One third has already been allocated for an elementary school
site. The Recreation Commission has asked that some land be
allocated for play fields. The Interfaith Housing Corporation has
expressed an interest as a potential site for subsidized housing,
and 22 the site is mentioned in that connection in the PB study.
AGREED not to volunteer a statement. If asked to comment, Mr,
Greeley will express the commission's hope that moderate-income
housing will be considered as a possible use.
