HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-08-03-CONCOM-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES of Commission .rneeting August 9 , 1970 ,� The meeting was called to order by the chairman at 8 10 by the 1 Chairman Mr Brown, with Messrs Mazerall and Sussman and Mrs Frick as well as visitor Frank Sandy Great Meadow Mrs Frick and Mr Brown reported on their meet- ing with Mr Meyer and Camp, Dresser and McKee Mrs. Frick recommended that a person other than she be appointed chairman of the Great Meadow Committee (to take the place of Frank Totman) . Dr Kassler was suggested Sickle Brook Mrs Frick received a telephone call from the artists Russell Johnson on Mass Ave telling her that the Brook had been dry for three days Apparently Wilson Farm had dammed it up to make a reservoir She spoke with Mr O'Connell about it and he will talk with the Town Engineer (confirmed by written memo) She will call Camp, Dresser and McKee telling them that the brook is dry ` because it is apparently dammed and Mr Brown will confirm this in a letter Mr Sandy commented that farms should probably be in the RO rather than RS zone , but better yet there should be an agricul- tural zone. Recent purchases by Selectmen The parcels reported in the Minute Man as "taken" are Modoono, Steeves and the Cotton- Ashley-Webb school site Mr Sussman recommended checking on the legal details with Mr O' Connell and that some explanatory publicity could be presented in an article or series of articles. Hayden Ave parcels Mr Sandy reported that all four unpurchased parcels are coming closer to completion of purchase OSA 60 Since the deadline for filing Requisition for Grant is September 1 , it was recommended that Mr Brown secure the deeds and other necessary documents on those parcels completely purchased and file a Requisition for partial grant , with an ex- planation that the remaining purchases would be completed soon Deeds State Applications 8 and 10 have not been approved be- cause of a missing clause in a deed A letter has been sent about this and the matter is under advisement A memorandum from the T.own Manager to the Planning Board, School Committee, Conservation Commission and Recreation Com- mittee on the school site and potential use of the entire Green and White property between Maple and Woburn Sts , includ- ing preliminary results of the Town Engineer' s study, is attached to these minutes.
