Conservation Fund. .$4,908:38 remained in ;fund On V31/70. i • Since $4350', of this amount will 'be used in t,Yie, purchase of ; ,, . the Valleyfield land, an article will be submitted'. to the Y ;, next TOwn Meeting requesting that .the Fund be restored to i , „ ,41u,1 lay 6197® :' a" fly 1 Conservation Commission Meeting 5/4/70 Page 2 S5 ,000 A letter to this effect will be sent the Town Manager by Mr Brown Clematis Brook This brook in Lexington becomes Beaver Brook in Belmont and Waltham, an important tributary of the Charles River Mr Sussman recommended that a letter be sent to the Department of Natural Resources informing them of past ) pres- ent and future impending developments which have caused or could cause harmful effects. 1 A letter has been received from the Town of Belmont complaining about damage done to the stream in Lexington. 2 The Bowman School , built upon filled wetland, has been suffering from water problems 3. The development along the Pleasant Street end of Worthen Road and side streets east of the school was built largely upon filled wetland; development continues. 4 The developer has also filled in a stream on Philip Road and possibly also covered some springs. 5 Residents of the development have complained about water problems. 6 The Town plans to extend Worthen Road through adjacent wetlands, with filling involved 7 A nearby church is considering development of its land along this extension. Some filling of wetland may be in- cluded. Correspondence The Lincoln Conservation Commission asked if the Lexington Commission has ever leased any of its lands to farmers. Reply. "No we haven' t Let us hear about your rates and experience when the program is established, " The DNR has sent letters requesting compliance with Hatch Act to Donna Realty and Stratvern Realty, developers in the Valley- field-Grassland area, with copies to appropriate Town officials Juniper Basin Mr_. Brown will arrange for a walk-tour with Mr. Hamilton hopefully on Saturday 7-Member Commission Commr. Sprague of DNR says that Town Meeting can accomplish this. Their attorney will send a letter. Investment of Conservation Fund The Chairman will discuss this with the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. r The meeting adjourned at 9 50 p m.
